Rare Shippy Posted March 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2023 Is there a cocktail hour in the lounge ? Is it open 24 hours for coffee & tea ? thanks
Moriah Posted March 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2023 No, it's not open 24 hours. Varies slightly, but usually from 7:30 AM until around 8 PM. A limited bar is available usually starting in the afternoon. Your drink package or regular payment apply.
Moriah Posted March 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2023 Also, coffee and tea ARE available 24 hours for you right in your suite, which comes with an espresso/coffee machine.

Don't rely on this. On two different HAL ships in the past 8 months we have not been able to get the correct pods fir the machine (for regular coffee). Moriah Posted March 14, 2023 #11 Share Posted March 14, 2023 I hope that coffee snafu was because of Covid supply chain issues. I've never had a problem with having coffee in the suite. Think positive, gregma! Coffee you shall have at 5:15 or any time! 🙂
Rare scooter6139 Posted March 14, 2023 #12 Share Posted March 14, 2023 (edited) Someone covered what machine they have in the Suites. It's not a Nespresso, but close called Monodor (Mocoffee?). I think it can use Lavazza pods but may want to confirm which ones. Edited March 14, 2023 by scooter6139

We would have a drink and then make another one (or they would make one for us if they were free) to take into the dining room for dinner. We were glad we didn't bother buying the drink package, especially since I also get free drinks while in the casino. I have not heard anything about the Neptune Lounge continuing this "experiment". They will be a gathering the first day or so where free drinks will be served and people get acquainted. On the Oosterdam last summer, it was held late morning the first full day of sailing so mimosas and bloody marys were there for the taking. I usually go in my bathrobe too and no one else is there

Espresso, regular, decaf. I didn't like the coffee.

For one thing, it made a smallish serving so we had to keep making more. Since we are awakened at 5 a.m. by my service dog seeking breakfast, DH heads up to the Lido with our tall insulated mugs while I walk the dog. The Lido coffee is usually fresh and very satisfactory. Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted March 15, 2023 #19 Share Posted March 15, 2023 I think the Lido coffee is fine for breakfast. On my last cruise, I went to the Pinnacle Lounge for a latte mid-morning, when I wanted something a bit "better." It was nice not having to hike all the way forward from my aft cabin. I hope they just get rid of them. I'd rather have an electric kettle and instant coffee. Then I could also make tea. I haven't been in a NS since before Covid, and I pretty much ignored the coffeemaker. So it's possible I thought there was regular coffee because I think it should be provided, not because it was. I couldn't stand the sludgy espresso. I ran plain water through the machine to dilute the espresso to something vaguely like what I prefer to drink. There are two buttons on the coffee machine. The left one makes a full cup (the taller one) and the right one makes espresso (the smaller cup). Maybe you were only using the right button or your machine wasn’t working correctly? It’s decent coffee, not as good as the machine in the neptune lounge makes but drinkable. The stuff on the lido is also drinkable but not nearly as good as from the machine in the lounge IMHO.
lizinindy Posted March 16, 2023 #23 Share Posted March 16, 2023 Oh gosh--we used the coffee machine in our suite every morning and Eddie would replace the pods and cups every day. I kept cream in the refrig from the Neptune lounge. The cocktails in the lounge need to be complimentary...the paper sign-in to be charged was silly
WannaSea Posted March 16, 2023 #24 Share Posted March 16, 2023 My travel companion had the foresight to provide stroopwaffle so every morning we made a starter before morning showers. The coffee tasted a little different, not better or worse, to me.
