FrankieJayIII Posted March 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2023 I took a look at the new menu and my cruise is coming up. We booked Sabatini's... looking forward to it. What are the best menu items at Sabatini's? If you don't know the menu, I am going to post it below, so you can help us choose what to order... We are OK with upcharges, if those are the items you would get/recommend. https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/ships-and-experience/food-and-dining/sabatinis-trattoria/sabatinis-trattoria-main-menu.pdf
Rare Oceansaway17 Posted March 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2023 I like the soup and the tortellini. Honestly this menu is better than say the Italian menu on Royal Caribbean's italian restaurant. I am sailing on Grand Princess out of Vancouver and I will make sure I book this place.
cruzsnooze Posted March 28, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2023 How can anyone tell you what you like? Do you prefer chicken, pork, beef, pasta, spicy, mild, sauces? Reading the menu for yourself is the best bet to order something you personally like. 2

This is a discussion board based on what people have had at the various restaurants. Just looking at the menu- Soup and salad both are appealing. Burrata, Fritto Misto, Salumi app. Lobster Tortillino, Rissoto Ossobuco, Eggplant Parmesan But would like to hear how others feel about the menu, what they've had etc.
GK95 Posted March 28, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2023 My teenager said the answer to your question is “everything!” 😂 Everything we ordered a few weeks ago was excellent. Sabatini’s was our favorite specialty restaurant (we also went to Crown Grill and Bistro Sur la Mer). Photos are below but some of what we ate at Sabatini’s included the Ribollita soup, the fried rice balls, Burrata Caprese, Fritto Misto all’s Veneziana, Lobster Tortelloni, Trofine Con Pesto (this was the least favorite dish of the night), Eggplant Parm and Filetto di Branzino.

It is one of the most filling and enjoyable menus. Cheers
Yehootu Posted March 28, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2023 On last cruise after I had the seafood linguini, the waiter told me next time to order "double the seafood, hold the linguini".
Rare travelin.sisters Posted March 29, 2023 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2023 I was disappointed in the new menu this month on the Crown...I preferred the old one (I can't eat shelfish so my options are limited), but some things were good: I missed the specialty Sabatinis rolls with rosemary sprigs (so delicious), instead there were generic ones (good enough but not special): the arancini were also a sad replacement for the zonzelle & prosciutto as the opener: the insalata was perhaps the best thing I ate there, absolutely delicious: my BIL liked the soup & crouton (served on a separate plate) also: I couldn't find an antipasti that I wanted to try, but my family liked the frito misto (although apparently, they couldn't come up with a sauce that didn't have peppers in it for my sissy): primi: the two seafood dishes were good but the spaghetti was way aldenti secundi the Branzino was good: ossobuco was good but giant serving of risotto was gummy & unpleasant: chicken scallopini (no photo) was really rubbery desserts: the chef' s specialty is fun, but the plating was very disappointing compared to previous incarnations (glass goblets rather than the bowls you find in the buffet) the menus: I know that many people are very excited by the new menu, but for me it is just kind of sad...also the last 2 times we have eaten there we have been disappointed (2 different ships, once the old menu & once the new one)
roadster08 Posted March 29, 2023 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2023 As an American with Neapolitan and Bari roots, I am impressed by this menu. It has a diversity of dishes from across Italy. I would be happy to order just about anything on that menu. The only thing I might hesitate on would be the shellfish because I would want to know where it was sourced from. 1

Since getting older, I'm more aware of what I eat. Unfortunately, not all countries have the rules we take for granted in the US. For example, China and India are not only the 2 largest producers of DDT, they permit it for agricultural use. Spray the crops, runoff ends up in the water, you can take it from there. I'm not saying the food from certain countries is unhealthy, just for me it's not worth the risk.

LibrarianMonroe Posted March 30, 2023 #13 Share Posted March 30, 2023 I had the Burrata Caprese, which was very good. It had a VERY large amount of cheese, but if you like cheese, that's not a problem! For the pasta I had the carbonara, which was fine. Nothing to write home about. For the main course I had the ossobuco, which was also huge. I've never had ossobuco before (I had it on the recommendation of the waiter) and I enjoyed it, but I can't compare it to ossobuco anywhere else.
Rare talkorpi Posted April 5, 2023 #14 Share Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) Sabatini’s photo dump. Incredible meal. Our waiter said that the guest satisfaction with the new menu has been much higher than the previous iteration. I can buy that! If you want a more in-depth review of the meal you can check my live thread here. Pictured: - Herb Foccacia & Garlic Parmesan Roll w/ oil & balsamic - Arancini - Buratta Caprese - Chef’s Panzanella with Grilled Shrimp - Pasta Primavera - Lobster Tortelloni - Branzino - Ossobuco - Chef’s specialty desserts (they brought us full sized versions of all of the desserts!) Hazelnut Rocher with chocolate ice cream and chocolate mousse Vanilla and mascarpone custard with fresh fruit Marsala wine panna cotta with blueberries Tiramisu Seriously an excellent meal that is well worth the cover charge. Rare Plato123 Posted April 7, 2023 #16 Share Posted April 7, 2023 The last time we were at Sabatini's for dinner I had excellent osso buco. And being in a suite I had an excellent eggs florentine with a side of proscuito and chunks of grana padano, with happy juice (mimosa) for breakfast one morning. Best food, service and ambiance on our Royal cruise.
Little Sister Posted April 8, 2023 #17 Share Posted April 8, 2023 On the Crown, pre Covid, the four of us had an absolutely fabulous meal at Sabatinis. The wait staff were wonderful and the food was delicious! On the Caribbean last July, we had our first visit to the “Trattoria”. The Calamari were so bad, we sent them back. The breading was non existent they were overcooked and greasy. The waiter actually tried to argue about the dish, but another was made for us. It wasn’t much better, so we pushed it to the side. I had the Pappardelle alla Bolognese which was tasty, but not quite like the restaurant version. The Parmigiana di Melanzane was the best part of my meal. The experience of the Trattoria vs the Restaurant….for us….was night and day. We canceled the rest of our reservations and enjoyed the MDR or buffet. Hoping this trip in June will afford us a better experience. YMMV.
