Carnival Luminosa April 1 2024 Transpacific, Brisbane to Seattle

Recommended Posts

Any info could help.

Apon arrival in Seattle 1st May2024 we plan to fly to Honolulu on the same day.

Believe we might be able to have our baggage moved from ship to Seattle airport for pick up in Honolulu.

Also re gratuities, as an Australian how frowned apon is it to cash  staff we are face to face with? rather than fork out pre paid of over $1000.No lectures on crew wages please.

the ship will be working the Alaska season so additional tipping "face to face" crew in US dollars will be appreciated. You can't get out of the on board daily gratituty fee. My Carnival Cruise consultant who I booked with advised to remember to pay in advance so it doesn't come as sticker shock on May 1.

We stop in a few Alaskan ports before Seattle and you can get USD out of ATM's there.

You luggage question?? I think you might have to lug it to SEA and check it in for your HNL flight.

Hope this helps,

Paul

I would recommend staying at the nearby suburb of Hamilton. It contains a range of accommodation styles. Hamilton is convenient to both the airport and the cruise terminal. It is a riverside location, and you can easily get into the city centre by bus or ferry if you want to do some pre-cruise independent touring. There are also lots of places to eat nearby in Racecourse Rd or by the river. Cruise ships used to pull up in Hamilton which was really handy, but the new cruise terminal is out at Luggage Point near the mouth of the river in an industrial area.

Delta don't fly into Brisbane. Direct flights to Brisbane from the USA are currently Qantas (from LAX) or United (from SFO). Of course there are other routes, but they involve stops between the USA and Brisbane. I guess it really depends on what you prefer. I believe that Delta flies to Sydney.

I have never flown across the Pacific myself, so I can't personally recommend any particular airline.

We have flown United 3 times to and from Australia and actually enjoy the 14 hours. More so than the local ones in the states. The price is not too bad either. Then there are no stops from California to Tampa.

I'm also booked on this cruise and on the Luminosa, which departs in ten days from Seattle to Australia. I'll let you know about the internet.

The internet in the pacific SUCKS. They actually gave refunds to those who pre-paid on line so they could buy daily on days it actually connected. So, Beware!

Hello happy cruisers!

Just booked a couple of days ago, and very excited about this adventure exploring Japan for the first time, and when the cherry trees will be in bloom no less,  and returning to wonderful Alaska, on a really lengthy cruise- FUN!

I will be on the Luminosa first time prior to this in February and March, I’ll already be accustomed to the ship and crew, and booking a casino comped balcony offer was an easy decision as I was already in the region and making my way to the US afterwards.  Making the most of the long flight from my home now in France to Australia, via a pit stop cruise from Singapore.

Solo cruising on this one, and looking forward to making new cruising friends along the way. Any solos wanting to meet up for dinner, please let me know, had great fun solo tables on past cruises, meeting great people along the journey.

Also, any card games, or other board games and such, please let me know! I will subscribe to the guest chat in the Carnival app aboard to make things happen easily, would love to be included on sea days in the afternoon.

Cheers!

Aimée ( pronounced A-May)

Welcome all, glad to see there is interest in games. My wife and I always bring cards and dominoes on every cruise and try to get others to join in. We go to the Marketplace (Buffet) between mealtimes so we can have our pick of tables. I like to set up a Christian Worship Service on Sunday mornings if anyone is interested. Non-Denominational. I have music we can sing and maybe we can get someone with a guitar to play. We usually meet in the Limelight Lounge on Sunday at 10am. I've never had a cruise director disagree. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Hello from another FL ( full time) resident.  We are booked on the cruise and backing into to flight details for our JAX to BNE and return SEA to JAX.

Fingers crossed it all falls together smoothly.   Spring Japan and Alaska packing recommendations would be appreciated from those with experience.

Ciao Joe and Connie Jacksonville FL.

Hello fellow sailors.  Diane here, from Salt Lake City, Utah.  I just booked this today and am beyond excited!  I will be solo on this so would love to join a solo dinner table if anyone has plans to book one.  I am also open to group excursions and card games.

Have sailed a few trans cons on Royal and Celebrity, so am excited to see Japan again in the springtime.

I was in Japan in October, the weather was cooler than expected. I wore shorts and a light jacket. I was thankful that I travel with a folding umbrella, as it poured a few afternoons.
I cruised Alaska a few years ago in May was expecting cold weather and I wore shorts everyday.

I guess what I am trying to say is, pack for cold and warm.
