Carnival Liberty - Interior Cabin 8424

I am a first time cruiser, I am taking my first cruise in October on Carnival Liberty for a 4 day Bahamas cruise. I got the fever and booked 2 more additional cruises after that one, so I am pretty sure I will love it. For this cruise I booked an interior cabin on deck 8, I am wondering if I should call and try to change my stateroom to  a balcony or oceanview, I did the math and for a balcony on deck 8 forward would be a $376 difference, if I was to go to ocean view I would have to move down to deck 2 with a forward cabin and that would be $132 difference. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated?

Welcome to Cruise Critic!

There is a section of Cruise Critic devoted to Carnival, located here:

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/133-carnival-cruise-lines/

We have sailed 25 times, with 2 future cruises booked. We did an inside one time...a last minute sale booking. Never again. Your deal sounds pretty good...we would do it in a heartbeat.

I would stay where you are, simply because it is a short cruise, and you will not be in your cabin much.  You will have a short period to be exploring the ship, sampling all it has to offer.  At the end of your cruise, think back on the experience and try to decide how much time you would have spent on that balcony.  Depending on your next cruises you may decide you can find the time for a balcony.  EM

We personally often cruise in interiors as it allows us to sail longer cruises.  Your deck 2 Oceanview may have noise from anchors if they are used but other than that would be fine.  To me that is a lot more money for a window - we spend little time in our cabin except to sleep so I would save my money.  Have a great time.

Just another couple comments about cabin location:  on deck 8, you are close to the stairs, up one flight to lido deck with buffet, pools.  Down on deck 2 you would not need to wait for an elevator to leave the ship, or coming back.  At most, two flights of stairs.  Long walk to the MDR, but that just helps to work off all the available food…. Welcome to Cruise Critic and the message boards!

Thank you for your new topic on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns a specific cruise line ship and is off topic there.

To help you out I have moved your new topic to the Carnival Cruise Lines forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed Carnival Liberty frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

The Cruise Critic website and message boards are a great resource for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you found us! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community categories list for the various message board forums. Read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. I would have waited until after your first cruise is over before you book your next. Cruising isn't for everyone and I wouldn't want you to be locked into something you may not like. But you know yourself better than I do obviously and you said you'll like it. I'm sure you will.

I only cruise inside rooms on Carnival. To me they're the best way to go.

Just stayed in almost your exact cabin solo a few weekends ago. Excellent location, roomy cabin and a great night's sleep. My friends were on deck 2 in an Oceanview and it was noisy - galley noise, mechanical noise, etc. I'd do an interior again-no problem. Enjoy.

we prefer the inside staterooms - I like that they are darker during the day and that napping is quite nice!   As others have said, you aren't really IN your cabin very much except to sleep (and does it matter if you've got a view of the ocean when you're sleeping?)

inside cabins are more affordable (you can spend the extra $$ on souvenirs!!) too

I would keep the inside stateroom on deck 8 - and use that as a "base" for any future cruise decisions.  If you find that you really weren't in your cabin much, then you're golden - and can pick inside staterooms from now on...  BUT...  if you find that you were actually in the cabin frequently, you can then decide if it would have been nice to spend time gazing off into the distance over the ocean.
