I have the offer -- spend $1000 get 25,000 rewards points.

If I purchase $1000 on board credit and don't spend it all, can I get it refunded or do I lose it?  Trying to figure out a way to hit the $1000 threshold as I'm cruising in July and have already prepaid for the cruise.

The last time there was an AMEX offer we were able to finish up our $1k with about $200 in refundable OBC, and we received the reward.

So if I don't spend the full OBC, then I can refund it to a different card at the end of the cruise?

They normally follow about 4-8 week after the US here, I check regularly on all our Amex.

Me too, check pretty much every day!

The last offer on our card was on there for quite a while, I don't actually think it ended until some time in March (although I used it on both our cards almost as soon as it came out).

Hopefully you're right with the 4-8 weeks after the US offer, as that would be before our pay in full date (albeit if it's the same £350 back on £1000 spend I don't actually have that much left to pay!).

It was refunded as cash not to a card. We got a message to stop by the bursar the day before disembarkation to clear the balance that they owed us.

Thanks.  Just bought $1,000 in OBC.  I'd be surprised if they give it back in cash at the end of the cruise.  I'll ask for a check to be mailed if they do try to give it back because I don't particularly want to be carrying around that amount of money.

You could spend some of that OBC. 🤣

I did this with previous Amex Offer. I got cash back on the last full day on the Bliss in March. Like someone said they even remind you while onboard.

I bought $1000 OBC for my May cruise to get 25000 pts. I saw the points in my account a day after the purchase but I never got the usual “you’ve used your offer” email. I will probably get most if not all of the OBC back as cash when I’m onboard. I’ve already spent too much on the cruise.

Mine was spend $1,000 get 25,000 points.  I pre-paid my tips, upgraded our wifi (as I'd planned) and purchased an onboard credit to get to $1,000.  Love bonus points on spend I would have done anyway.  Check your authorized users' cards as well - this is the fourth NCL offer we've had across all our cards.

i havent checked my offer yet but i prefer cash.

what am i going to do with 25k points?

(i have the free amex everyday card)

I've also been told if you already have a cruise booked, you can add $1k of OBC and get it refunded on another card at the end of the trip.

you sure about refunded to another card at end of cruise?

i was told by ship finance that they pay out cash at end of cruise.

i prefer not to carry more  cash, especially when i'm debarking in a foreign country.

I have never done this myself, I just remember reading that here at some point. I believe the context was someone bought OBC with one card, but then put a different card on their onboard account once on the ship. It's distinctly possible they used to do that, but no longer do. To me it makes much more sense as more and more people carry less cash. Logistically, there's no reason they couldn't refund to any card you choose. If anyone else can chime in with personal experience, that would be great.

December 2022 cruise on the Escape, and they refunded the unused OBC in cash. I didn't really spend too much time trying to get it refunded to a card instead, so it may be possible that way will refund it that way.

Got the offer in October and used it.  No offer now.  Also had an offer for Celebrity that expired March 31st.  Would have loved to use that one ($350 off $1000) but didn't want to give them that much for a non refundable fare.

Just an update. I found where I read that you can get it back on whichever card you use for your onboard account. It was in the Amex offer from last year. Here's the post:

We used the offer in February, in the Uk it was spend at leanest £1000 get £350 back. We were past final payment and weeks away from cruising, so I ordered £1,100 worth of obc in dollars, we had to take back what was left in cash on the last night. $750 would of preferred it back on the card as we were not flying home for a few nights. But a good offer and would do it again!

Just checked my free amex everyday card.

No ncl offer. 😞

did people keep 'adding' offers to free up space so the ncl/celebrity offers pops up?

No, mine was at the top of the list when it got added (and I had 100 offers).  I am guessing if you don't see it, you weren't targeted.

Or it was just part of the 100 offers. The only way to make sure is to add enough until you're under 100. I have over 300+ offers between two cards.  Check all your cards since some offers are specific to one card like the points one if you have a cash card and a points card.  Since May started a lot of offers expired and new ones appears so it might have pushed it off by the time someone saw it.

Tip: Use the website instead of the app. It's easier to see how many offers you have.

I bought $1000 OBC with the AmEx promo last week and just got off the Getaway on Monday.  Cash out for refundable credit was the only option on the last day.  I left with $900 cash after gratuities.  The $250 refund was already reflected on AmEx.  I had intended to use the OBC in the casino, but they were still going to charge me 3% to transfer.

Sorry, I wasn't clear with my post.  What I meant was that I had 100+ offers already.  When the NCL offer was added, it was added at the top of my list.  Some offers "trump" other offers, this being one of them (at least for me), where it automatically shows up at the top of the offer list.  I have found that it Amex Offers don't get added in chronological order.  My assumption would be that if it isn't showing up already on your list, you would be wasting your time adding offers to get down to less than 100 to see if you have it.

Maybe someone has a data point where the current NCL didn't show up on their list until they started adding offers to get lower than 100.  I kind of doubt it though.  I'll stand corrected if someone has that data point.

Thank you for letting us know. I went to check my Amex account and found the offer. I just had similar offer last year so I am a little surprised that Amex gives me this offer again.
