"Map on tv"

My favorite tv channel on Carnival is the one with the map that shows our location.  We were on the Magic this month, and that channel is much below the previous version. No slide showing miles travelled, current speed, etc.

 

When did that happen? Why?

I’ve never seen the miles travel info etc on the map channel.  Just the location of the ship

Depends on the ship, I noticed the Freedom had a primitive map when I was on it in 2021. But Sunshine has always had the nicer colorful maps with distance, speed, etc.

The map channel is also my favorite.  Each ships program is a bit different; some better than others.

I love that little flashing dot pinnacle. When I sail other lines, I find myself missing “the dot”.

Indeed, the image is probably generated by the Nav system, and since each class, or even each ship, could have a different system, it will look a bit different, much as nav systems in cars have evolved.  And because it isn't crucial to the crew, just a nice-to-have for the self-loading cargo, it may not have all the bells-and-whistles you now expect, or it had in the past but has been deleted/deprecated due to other system upgrades.
