Cap_D Posted April 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2023 Has anyone done an itinerary with 5 port days in a row? We'd welcome observations. We're looking at Spring 2024, and are generally familiar with the islands. Thanks in advance.

We really liked that itinerary and wish that Celebrity would bring it back. Our upcoming 12 night Southeast Asia cruise has five port days in a row. I'm looking forward to it. What kind of observations are you looking for? Edited April 29, 2023 by mahdnc

My guess is we"d stay in the shop at least 1 out 5 days. SE Asia looks like a great trip.
Rare mahdnc Posted April 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2023 Caribbean port days are as busy or relaxing as you want them to be.
davekathy Posted April 29, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2023 We aren't sea day fans. The more port days the better. No matter the itinerary.
cobeck Posted April 29, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2023 We did a Mediterranean cruise pre Covid with 5 port days in a row. We were mid to late 50’s at the time. We did excursions in every port and so happy we did but we were so glad to have a sea day to relax. We tried to schedule the excursions so they weren’t all early departures and not all were physically very active. Have fun planning.

We've done that itinerary with Celebrity when they were offering the 14/15 day itineraries.

Five ports in a row on a Caribbean cruise would't bother us because, depending on the islands (we've been to mostly all of them) we most likely wouldn't be getting off the ship. If we were on another Europe/Med port intensive sailing it could be an issue since my husband is now 79 and I'm 75 and I don't see us climbing Nordcapp again (unforgettable cruise experience) in our cruising future!
Rare mac_tlc Posted April 29, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 29, 2023 We usually avoid an itinerary with that many consecutive port days. Not relaxing for us, we like sea days and prefer a sea day between stops. Too much go,go,go. Sure, you can stay on the ship, but casino is closed and on some ships some restaurants can be closed for lunch. This is one reason we have not pulled the trigger on an Oceania cruise. Other than a repo or transoceanic cruise, they stop a lot. mac_tlc
Carried_Away Posted April 29, 2023 #11 Share Posted April 29, 2023 My January 2024 cruise has a 10-night itinerary with 5 port days in a row. I'll probably try to persuade my friend to stay on the ship one or two of those days because I prefer resting and relaxing on the ship to going out and keeping busy with activities everywhere. We will be in the Caribbean, we've visited most of the ports before, and we don't love them all, so I won't mind missing one or two. If I were sailing in another part of the world where the ports were all new and interesting to me, five days in a row would feel like a lot to me.
