Thinking of Trying Celebrity But Have A Few Questions

Hi,

Our choices for a South America Cruise are Celebrity, NCL, and Princess.

We heard that Princess won't be return to South America after March 2024.

We are not crazy about NCL so we are thinking of trying Celebrity for a cruise to South America in Dec 2024.  We are Diamond members with Royal Caribbean.    As Diamond members, we receive quite a few perks.  Those include access to their Diamond Lounge, vouchers for drinks per day, etc...etc...  On my Celebrity account, we are an Elite members.  Does an Elite member on Celebrity have similar perks to a Diamond member on Royal Caribbean?

Thank you,

Danny

The perks are similar but since COVID Celebrity has not had their traditional Elite Happy Hour, now they just allow you to have free drinks from the HH menu at most of the ship's bars from 5pm to 7pm each day after embarkation day.  There are a number of other Elite benefits like free internet minutes, a free bag of laundry, the Elite breakfast each day.  That breakfast is nice because it is a quiet venue but they do not offer any cooked or hot foods.

Thank you for the info.  That's good to know.

One difference I believe with the free drinks from 5-7 is they are not available in the restaurants as I have heard they are on RCL.  You can certainly get one from a bar and carry it in with you.  If you have AI or drinks package it really makes no difference.

If you have the drinks package, no need to stick with the limited Happy Hout menu. All drinks are covered any time up to the $ limit for your package. Drinks everywhere on the ship are covered. T here is no Captain's Club lounge like the Diamond lounges on RCI.

Ah, I see.  I like the lounge because I go there also for the specialty coffee.

The happy hour drinks were changed from one venue (Sky Lounge) to nearly all bars well before Covid.

Internet offer is different instead of 1x 24 hour unlimited access per person it is 90 minutes per person. Use the minutes when you like. Or use the perk as a discount on a full package. This perk is useless unless you book at Sail Only rates.

The coffee house style breakfast is our favorite way to start the day. Usually in Tuscan Grill from 8 to 10 except disembarktion day. Selection of cold meats, salmon, croissants, fruits, rolls, and Danish pastires. Smoothies, juice, lattes, Cappuccino, etc. Bloody Marys, mimosas, and sparkling wine. Sometimes pre plated ( they will make plates to order) or buffet - depends on itinerary/port of departure). The Captain's Club host attends every day so a great opportunity to talk to them or to fix an appointment for a meeting if required. Sometimes quiet, busier on sea days.

Except if you have the Basic package, you can use your perk for 90 minutes of Premium internet before activating your Basic.

True but you have paid for the package which reduces the value of the free benefit.

Another alternative is to share the first 90 minutes and see how you get on. Once the first lot is used you can decide whether the second 90 minutes will be enough to last to the end of the cruise or if you should use it as a discount on a full package which by then will be less as it's for fewer days.

If you prepare all messages off line, then logon to send/receive simultaneously, immediately log off before reading any messages you will be amazed at how much you can get done in 90 minutes. We have never had to buy the full package.
