I posted this in another thread  but it may need  it's own  thread

Just noticed  they have changed some of the cancellation penalties as of April  2023

note the  part I highlighted in red  for less that 15 day cruises

Also the time limit has changed

Time to re read the new fine print 😲

 https://oceaniacruises.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005306234-What-is-your-cancellation-and-refund-policy-

The following cancellation charges will be assessed for all written cancellations received up to the scheduled time of departure.

75-61 Days Prior - 50% of Fare
60-31 Days Prior - 75% of Fare
30-0 Days Prior - 100% of Fare

Cruises 15 days or more except 180-Day Voyages:

Not surprised by this change.  I'm sure they have data showing number of cancellations on the shorter cruises that churns lower occupancy and/or last minute low fares to fill ships.  Our favorite campground revised their cancellation and reservation policies to discourage the "unserious" or book multiple campgrounds and cancel just days before leaving no revenue for the owners.  Post Covid travel is just a pain right now for a variety of reasons and proprietors are adjusting to new behaviors.

What does this actually mean?  Is it 10% of the fare, or just $250 pp, or possibly both?  It literally seems to say the penalty is 10% of the fare minus $250, which does not make much sense.

I agree

Maybe check with your TA or Oceania

I am passed that point  it  will be a bigger chunk of change  if we have to cancel

You would think they would put the two sets of days/fees in the same order/format.

i.e.  30-0 Days         0-60 Days

maybe the shorter sailings  have more leeway

Or maybe who wrote up the  rules  was not paying attention to details

I just booked a cruise on Monday  (6/19) for under 15 days and both the Invoice and the Ticket Contract have the same cancellation policy noted as in the past…nothing regarding the 10%, just the $250 fee.

Question. I had thought that payment in full for a under 15 day cruise was at 90 days.  That is when we paid for our January Riviera cruise. If so, has anyone actually spoken to Oceania or confirmed in some way?  We only have $500 deposit for our next cruise as we booked on board.  I find it hard to believe they would be able to send us a bill.  Is it possible this marks a split where the penalty is the full $500 deposit if you booked on board but 10% if you gave the full $1500 deposit as we did on our first cruise?

Final payment is different date than when the penalty period kicks in

They no longer refund the admin fee if you cancel   before final payment & the  penalty  date

I would check with your TA or Oceania

I think the 10% is a typo  but I could be wrong

My reservation papers have the cancellation fees.  180 to 91 days prior 10% of fare.  90 to 76 days is 25% etc.  Depends on your category of cabin if you also pay the $250.  Full payment is still due 90 days prior.

@LHT28  If you are in one of the higher level suites you do not have the $250. fee but your 10% penalty starts at the 180 day mark.  The fees are also different for amount of cruise days and special cruises like around the world.  This info is in the cruise contract as well as on everyone’s reservation documents.

All I know is planning these cruises is stressful!  Getting time off, arranging pet sitters, figuring the best cabin, air!  Insurance plans alone are work, penalty dates, read the contracts, but then my husband and I hug in our balcony and it all goes away…but wait how are the cookies?!
