Man, you'd HOPE they mean downward adjustments, but it doesn't say that...

AND it also says "may" not "will be entitled to"; big difference there. They could take your balcony, put you in an inside and say "oh well" because they "may" adjust the fare, not "will" do it.

I mean, I'm not surprised. In the US the laws basically let corporations do whatever they want. The UK and most of Europe offers stronger consumer protections.

Had it happen....

Yacht club Grand suite to a regular balcony on deck 8.

No reduction in fare. No booze package and no WiFi, no access to YC.

Got a lawyer. Was able to cancel with his help.

They can do whatever they want and do not need to follow T&C.

The reason why we chose to have cabins next to each other was to assist my elderly relatives. If we had adjacent balcony cabins, we could have opened up the balconies and had free, unrestricted access to them and they would just have to call out for us if we were needed for anything. So, it's a shame MSC changed our cabins without our knowledge. They did receive my email and are supposedly "checking into the issue", but that was two days ago and I have not heard back since.

We all have different check-in times also. We are all traveling to the port together in a pre-arranged vehicle and will arrive at the same time. I am hoping/guessing this will not be a problem since we are all in YC? We also all have to get our photos taken because I cannot upload any of the photos through our web check-in! I called MSC Tech Support and they were of no help. Ugh!! Why isn't this cruise going smoothly for me before I even step on the ship?? I kind of just have to laugh about it at this point!

Again, thank you all for your advice and suggestions!!

When they are around or even show up.

Late evening they are no where to be found. 24 hour butler service is a joke.

 One butler has many cabins.

This could all have been avoided if they kept the rooms as they were booked. Giving the OP the illusion that it will be ok with the butler's is just wrong.

Back in May on the Splendida, the YC was short two butler's for an 18 night cruise. They were so overwhelmed it seemed never mind having to play personal assistant.

You are right, it's a bad thing to give them an illusion of what most likely will happen. Maybe we shall give them the worst scenario instead.

Maybe they will loose their Yacht Club experience and get all cabins spread around the ship.

The butlers will do eveything they can to help the older couple, we both know that.

As for illusion, everything can happen.

I agree with you that it was bad of them to change your cabins, especially when they didn't told you about it.

They will let you move around the passengers so that you will be as close as possible to your elderly relatives.

You don't have to care about the check-in time and can check-in together.

If you arrive before boarding has started they will probably take all photos while you are waiting to board, nothing to worry about.

I hope that you will get a great cruise even if it's frustrating right now.

No they won't?

What gives you that idea?

Exactly how will that happen?

They won't do nothing!

Ah, the dreaded double negative! Does this mean a positive, that MSO will do something, or is at extra negative added at no cost to imply a really negative negative?  With mscdivina2016, I suspect the latter!

Please tell me this was a joke. Or, a system error they realized later.

This is wrong in many ways. Even though it still listed Yacht Club, they would not give you a card to access the YC exclusive area?

This is bait and switch and as far as I know, it's prohibited.

Would you buy a new white car and accept a diaper green one at pick up?

Yes, in normal times I would not accept a different color car. But about over a year ago we walked into a dealership to buy a car to fit my DW's luggage. They only had two NEW cars to sell at the time. Either purchase what they had or wait til who knows when ? (Some people have the luxury of time on their side). Same with cabins on ever so popular cruise ships. We will take whatever cabin in the YC RS or OS that is available. Found out it will be a little more tricky with these cabins on World America. Forward vs side will have to report as there are no reviews and by the time there are reviews these cabins will be sold out.

Wasn't this the MSC cruise that a group chartered the entire Yacht Club and everyone that booked YC was offered a refund ? Had anyone had the displeasure of sailing with this group they would have had a terrible time as they would be closed out of their meeting places in the YC like taking over the TSL or the OnePool deck and there would be nothing but complaints from YCers  not part of this group. MSC was doing everyone a favor by offering a refund. Sure compensation for air flight and hotels lost vacation time. That is another story.

Of course they will let them switch around the passengers, now you are just silly!

How will that happen? They tell the concierge that they have cabin 17000, 16000, 16002 and 16004 and want to move the elderly couple from cabin 17000 to cabin 16000, done. If the system for some reason doesn't allow the change noone cares who sleeps where so they can still sleep in 16000.

We never get past "enter city". When one is within 18 days of sailing, Start the web check-in. One will notice the 800 number change at the top right corner. Have your booking number and passport numbers ready. The agent will back-fill the same information you already typed in. Then when you are finished they will tell you to download the tickets, KEEP THE AGENT ON THE LINE, because of course the downloading will NOT work. Then they will email them immediately. Make sure you receive the email before hanging up the phone. Photos are not needed on the web check-in. They take everyones' picture after one goes through security check-in. This is the experience at Port of Miami.

Ok, passengers=family members.

Now I understand. My bad.

No joke!

Still very poed at them for that fiascal.

I will never let this go until they take care of me for my out of pocket expenses.

Just for clarification,I had to get the attorney to help facilitate the refund. As the cruise was so close.

They can do whatever they want and they don't care about T&C. Passengers are cargo and that's how they treat you.

Great product lousy CS and IT.

So true, that is how MSC got their start. Hauling containers around the world on their cargo ships. Unfortunately for us, those containers never complain and do not care where they are put on the ship!

Now close this negative thread and rename the title to something like "MSC Comes Through in the End."

I don't even know how to do that, but, I have to say, the aggravation it caused me this ENTIRE week was enough to not sail with them again. There are a lot of other cruise choices out there. MSC needs to step up their game and not cause drama for their clients.

And they are making a lot of money doing that.

How do you figure they "came thru" in the end?

They created a problem and when after a bunch of grief on behalf of OP, it got rectified.

It should be renamed "MSC finally fixed their stupid mistake"!

What we know is that they are old and have mobility issues.

They will defenitely be escorted EVERYWHERE if they need/want.

Problem to get a soda from the minibar? A butler will help them. NO

Need help to get from sofa to balcony? A butler will help them. NO Absolutely No. Butlers will not physically help someone from place to place.

Forgot the glasses when going to the lounge? A butler will get it for them.  WOW?  Really? You'd ask your butler to get your glasses?

There are lots of things they can get help with, as you know.

Sorry but MOST of these things are just not true.  The butlers have 8-16 cabins. They CERTAINLY will not come to your room to get a coke out of the fridge.  Should they stand by and hand you a towel after your shower?  Come on now, @sverigecruiser this is just ridiculous.

A butler will defenitely go to the cabin and get their glasses. I should NEVER ask them to do it but if I was old, had mobility issues and MSC had screwed up my cabinselection I might have asked them.

They will not carry someone but I see no reason why they shouldn't give a helping hand. They do take carryons on and of the ship all the time.

I agree that maybe they won't help someone to get a soda from the minibar but they will defenitely deliver one from the lounge.

If you don't mind waiting 30-45 minutes maybe..   despite being called butler's, they are basically room stewards.

After 2am it takes an hour plus to get ice. So much for 24 hours.

You also find your butler busing tables in top sail or somewhere else on the ship.
