Anyislandwilldo Posted August 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2023 Found this on Google. Starting in 2024, U.S. passport holders traveling to Europe will need to apply for authorization through the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before their visit. We are going on a cruise next year to Italy. Do we need to get a visa now?
trvlgirlmq Posted August 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) https://etias.com/ Keep checking this website but it won’t be available until 2024. Edited August 25, 2023 by trvlgirlmq
klfrodo Posted August 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2023 You will need this electronic approval however it’s not available yet. and if your flight has a connection in London, you’ll need their version also.
CruiserBruce Posted August 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2023 There have been several threads on the topic. Its not a visa, its a travel authorization, and yes there is a difference. It will be very easy to get online and it will be digitally attached to your passport. There will be a small fee, except for some age related exemptions. Australia has been doing this for a number of years, and other countries also do it, including the US.
Rare steamboats Posted August 26, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2023 ETIAS is no visa but a pre registration for those who are eligable for the visa waiver program. It´s pretty much the same as ESTA for the US. You have to register online and then get your stamp in your passport at arrival. So far it´s not yet implemented and no date given - just "in 2024". steamboats
