sullaRaffaello Posted August 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2023 Boarding Serenity on Sept. 8th. So far, have only received an e-ticket. Should I have received luggage tags?
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2023 You should receive them to your home and hopefully this coming week. Worse case you can fill them out at the pier. Keith
TER777 Posted August 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2023 A friend called Crystal re as we haven’t yet received them for the Sep 1 sailing. He was told it is a third party vendor problem.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted August 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2023 I never use luggage tags from the cruiseline. There are always tags available at the pier, and it's one less thing for me to have to deal with. And the bags always make it.
ChatKat in Ca. Posted August 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2023 I use mailing labels and do the info on the computer. Peel and stick. I do that with info for baggage tags and other labels I might need for airlines too. Once and done.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 27, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2023 Yes we had the third party vendor problem too. For our cruise they were not pre-printed so you filled them out. They arrived two day UPS. There were several last minute assignments of rooms which is why they didn't pre-print them. As mentioned there will be tags at the pier so the world won't come to an end if they don't arrive. With that said, we prefer to have them in advance so we don't have to fill them out at the last minute. But like everything we all have our own preferences. Right now they are using the tags that have sticky glue in the back so you just attach them that way. Keith
Texas Tillie Posted August 27, 2023 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2023 And, the paper they are using for the current tags is not friendly with gel pens. The ink won't dry and you get smudges. Patty

Depending on the specific coating, they can be difficult to impossible for any kind of non-ballpoint pen. So it's not just Crystal luggage tags - note this for any kind of application. Plus, this is why you so often see Sharpies and other permanent markers being used at pierside.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 27, 2023 #9 Share Posted August 27, 2023 Luggage Tags. Anne Marie who has far better hand-writing than I do used a sharpie as she does for the cardboard ones and it worked very well with no smudges. Keith

I started using Sharpies back when Crystal and Princess switched to plastic strap tags back in the 90’s, and just kept doing it when they were using the lighter-coated paper tags. I do admit to filling them out at home though, but I agree 100% that no one ever needs to. My already chicken scratch handwriting gets even worse when I’m feeling rushed like I do at the pier, and I actually get really excited for the trip when I fill them out…. So it’s kind of fun and therapeutic for me. 😊 Vince
