USCAdventurer Posted August 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2023 Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Civitavecchia please? And then can someone recommend transport from the hotel to the ship in the late morning? Much appreciated.
CruiserBruce Posted August 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2023 Have you looked around the board? There are a couple hotels mentioned, although I have to say the reviews are mediocre at best. Cab will be the likely transport.
mapleleaves Posted August 28, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2023 Do you specifically want to stay in Civi ? as opposed to the airport or to Rome
sabbo55 Posted August 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2023 We have been to Rome several times and will only be arriving the night before. I thought seeing Civitavecchia would be something different especially since we will have only about a half day. I would hope there would be a decent place to stay for one night and a few interesting things to do to fill our time. Has anyone done this? euro cruiser Posted August 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2023 Although Civitavecchia is a somewhat dull port town, there are a couple of things to see and a nice waterfront promenade to walk along (only about 600 meters/four-tenths of a mile in length, but better than nothing) and a decent sized daily market to wander around. The hotels cater to one-night cruise passengers for the most part and are very average/tired… Ive been to Rome many times but would always opt for it rather than Civi. Better hotels and food options; as well there is always something new I can see…

mauimary Posted August 31, 2023 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2023 We stayed at the Rome Marriott Park Hotel by the airport after a cruise. We were picked up at the Port by RIL and toured the city and then were dropped off at the hotel. Definitely recommend. Obviously you can do the other way around and be transported to the Port from the Airport Marriott.
Fairgarth Posted September 4, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2023 ...and now for something completely different... Last time we sailed out of Civitavecchia we stayed at a B & B in Tarquinia for three nights (I tre Camini). We got the train from Fiumicino airport to Tarquinia (one change) and the owner met us at the station. When we checked out she gave us a ride to the cruise port. Tarquinia is a lovely, medieval hilltop town. We enjoyed our stay.
