Recommendation for resort stay between cruiseport and airport

Have a late flight and getting off cruise ship early.  

 

Thinking of taking a resort stay to hang out until it's time to go to airport.

 

Suggestions appreciated

Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Resort is on a beautiful beach and is close to the airport. I believe they sell day passes through one of the websites that specialize in day passes.

 

Another possibility is the Fairmont El San Juan, also not far from the airport. Again passes are sold through one of  the websites that sell day passes.

Id second the Fairmont El San Juan-- nice full service resort. It's a real shame they haven't opened up the old Ritz-Carlton yet. They keep teasing that progress is being made and then nothing. It was never the nicest Ritz in the Caribbean but it was RIGHT next to the airport and incredibly convenient for what the OP is describing (as well as a quick night prior to a cruise).

njhorseman, considering this hotel for a night before the cruise, how far from Pan American port?

About 1.5 miles - No more than 10 minutes by taxi with heavy port traffic.

There are better hotel choices - But one pays the money and makes the choice of where to stay.

Just found the list you posted on previous post, we will be landing at SJU airport around 1:30 pm, so checking in and heading out for a good dinner and some cocktails, not much time for beach. Main concern is safety, cleanliness and proximity to port.

Out of hotels listed which is the best choice just for an overnight?

Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort is about 7 miles from Pan American pier. 12 to 15 minutes in light traffic, more when a ship is in port.

There's a huge range of prices and hotels that are a lot fancier or not as nice as the Courtyard Isla Verde, which I would say is a mid-range hotel.

Nothing in San Juan is going to be a huge distance from Pan American pier but if you're not going to spend any beach time and you really want to be close to the Pan American cruise port then you may want to consider the Hyatt House San Juan, the Hyatt Place San Juan  or the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino

After reading some reviews and recommendations, ended up booking Marriot Isla Verde. Thanks.
