Hi.

Both ships came under the VZ and have been in this position, and now with a helicopter hoovering over, since at least 8 am.

This is the view from my office.

Thank you.

The ship is The Escape coming to anchor safely in the harbor from the hurricane.

According to cruise mapper it looks like the Norwegian Escape and the Seven Seas Mariner. The Mariner was originally supposed to arrive in Bermuda on the 14th and not arrive in NYC until the 17th.

The Escape was supposed to be in Halifax and St. John and not arrive in NYC until the 17th. I guess they are avoiding the Hurricane.

The Joy has a bright red oriental design painted on Her bow.  My tracking site says They is in the Gulf of St. Laurence.  Hopefully She also will be safe from the approaching hurricane.

Thank you.

I was on the Joy less than a month ago, you would think I would remember LOL

What are the regulations when something like this happens?  Is the casino open while anchored in the harbor?  Does everything get charged sales tax?

Accordding to postings I have read from those on The Escape, the shops and the casino are closed.  I am assuming that you have to pay sales tax on your drinks regardless of a drink package.

so Escape skipped halifax and st john to arrive in nyc a day early to avoid the mistake of the Joy last month? (trying to beat a hurricane into port)

I have no idea, I was just reading their original schedule from a couple days ago. I am not on the ship and have no idea their revised itinerary.
