dbrucern Posted September 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2023 I was recently on the Sunshine and was fortunate enough to win a nice hand pay, however even with me giving them my ID they wanted to give me a slip to go stand in the Cashier line to cash it. I told them I would prefer my money and they did comply, however on the last day when everyone is in line to cash out there casino accounts I was speaking to the woman in front of me and she had won two hand pays and stated that she was told she would have to collect from the cashier. Is this something new because I have never had this happen on any other ship and I always tip those who pay me
Rare lazydayz Posted September 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2023 I think it is new. Happened to me on the Pride in late July. It does cut down on the impulse to tip.
Elaine5715 Posted September 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2023 They get me a slip to take to the cage when I don't have my ID with me.
SailawayKC Posted September 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2023 In March on the Dream they walked me to the cage for the hand pay.
highSeas22 Posted September 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2023 It's nothing new. Last year I was given a slip and I went to the cage.
CantWait08 Posted September 17, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2023 I had multiple hand pays on the Luminosa last week. The first one I did not have my ID on me so they gave me the slip to take to the cage one I had my ID on me. The next ones they offered to go get the cash for me or I could take the slip to the cage when I was ready.

kwokpot Posted September 18, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2023 If you have your ID with you at the time of the jackpot the attendant will pay you out at the machine, if not you get a slip to take to the cashier.

That's what I am asking, I had my ID and they wanted to give me a slip and then stand in line at the Cashiers desk which as we know can be a very long line.

Same thing happened us on Dream 2022. We were at the non smoking casino deck 4, hit a big jackpot,, they came around and got his driver's license. Came back with piece of paper to take to cashier on deck 5. Husband (in wheelchair) was looking at him like wth so the guy say's "I can go get it for you." So, they eventually brought him the cash.

If I think about it, they would need to wait for a cashier so better to have you wait. 1

weezal Posted September 18, 2023 #14 Share Posted September 18, 2023 $1200 (and up) win on a slot machine
glrounds Posted September 18, 2023 #15 Share Posted September 18, 2023 Thank you, weezal. I guess this is where a jackpot in a land-based casino has the casino operator come around, write up a credit, and CLEAR the machine.
Pellaz Posted September 19, 2023 #16 Share Posted September 19, 2023 You don't technically HAVE to go to the casino cage if you win one of those $2,500 "cash cube" prizes since it drops down in the machine and you can just...stroll off with it, but you need to. Not only does the "cash cube" not contain $2,500 (it's actually $1,000 in singles), but I'm pretty sure you'd get a "step aside, please!" when you tried to debark without completing the required IRS forms. I briefly considered strolling off with it (and robbing myself of $1,500, oops), but it was 1 am on the last night of the cruise, my suitcase was already down on Deck 0...and the cube o'cash wouldn't fit in my carry-on backpack. 😄
