They do this on MSC, but only on Ocean Cay day. Those bartenders are needed on the island. On sea days all 11 bars are open for business and even on port days all 11 are open.

On another page someone said there is construction happening on the Astern Pool deck and she hopes this means they are fixing to roof of the Conservatory pool too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is one of the main reasons why travel gurus advise never to book these beginning ‘shakeout’ cruises of new or just before and after a dry dock.

Am anticipating that most of all the problems expressed these last weeks will be ironed out. Our butler Vishnu told us it took 3 months for everyone on the new rollout of the MSC Seaside to get their acts together. The negative reviews reflected as much. Even the Captain made a public apology and promised things would get better. It did. We haven’t stopped sailing MSC. It is our home away from home.

Explora just opened up check in for our cruise. If it is anything like MSC it makes no difference to request anything until one is on board and has the ‘ear’ of a concierge or butler.

Fixing the first user bugs. This is why I believe MSC group should have had those cruises on the first 6 operational months done at a hard discount (call it soft opening mode) and not the regular set prices.

Today is a Sea Day, right? Two of the pools/bars are closed - all day???

We’re in Canada today and due to local regulations only one bar per deck can be open while in port.

Yes that is true when docked at Canadian ports. But extending this to open sea is stretching it.

And the "Burger Station" turns out to be a ONE DAY experiment.

Can't run it two days in a row, it seems.

The fails continue.  And no matter how impressive one might find the ship, the other issues are death by a thousand cuts.  No one single problem is deal-breaking, but the cumulative effect is telling.

I have heard of lettuce and Thousand island dressing.

Could what they say on the menu be a combination of both?

Clearly it’s not the line for you so you’ll be glad when tomorrow rolls around and you can disembark never to return to Explora

It’s a sea day today - so it’s not operating - that doesn’t mean it was a one day experiment - it means it will operate on port days to cater for those returning from ashore

On sea days I guess they figure people are smart enough to manage their food intake around the standard dining hours - or use Crema, Afternoon tea or the extensive room service menu

We hope you are correct.  In this blog we certainly see the difference between the "cup is half full" vs "the cup is half empty."   🙂

I’d like to the demographics of the Half-full versus Half-empty based on actual current or prior Explora I passengers versus planned or never passengers. I posit that the ‘actual’ passengers will skew towards the Half-full. Personally, I’m in the 8 out of 10 range.

When we board, tomorrow, EJ will have a clean slate (in our mind).  That being said, the pre-cruise communication from EJ is atrocious and, at this point, that cannot change.  Consider that we are booked aboard until Oct 13, and the posts here give us cause to expect "issues" on Oct 12.  That being said, we have never heard a single word from EJ, or our long-time trusty cruise agency, about the situation regarding that day.  Obviously, EJ, thinks so little of their paying passengers that they see no reason to keep them informed about changes that will, at the very least, inconvenience all aboard.

That being said, we also acknowledge that the onboard folks have nothing to do with the Oct 12 "fiasco" that has already caused lots of grief for some who have been made aware of the changes.

Right on Hank Clean slate combined with added info from others experience which for me will hopefully enhance our journey

Will look forward to your on board posts unless of course you are having such a great time you only  have room for festivities
