How do you get from the cruise port to Barrachina Restaurant and back to the cruise port. Taxi? Any other suggestions? Thank you

Taxi 1 minute or walk 4 minutes

Ok but what if we are at the Pan American Pier. Seems that just Carnival stops at the Old San Juan Pier.

Cab… Too far to walk….No idea on price… But guess per cab about $20 e/w  including tip.

That's not true.

If a ship of any cruise line is making a port call there's a 99% probability that it will be in Old San Juan.

Pan American is used for port calls only if there are too many ships in port to all dock in Old San Juan, which is a rare occurrence.

Otherwise Pan American is only used for homeport operations.

never been but have heard lots about it. How big is this place and how crowded does it get when ships are docked? I think we are the only ship in port.

Think it can cater for 80/100 inside.

Remember Barrachina is very popular with Embassies, Government, the business community, local residents, hotel guests, holidaymakers and visitors from other parts of Puerto Rico, not just with cruise pax.  The number of ships in port is almost irrelevant on certain days.

Book early, book early…..

I'm trying to figure out what to do with our luggage too; Flight is at 2. Do you need to reserve a spot at this Barrachina for our luggage?

If dining they have an area where luggage is deposited while one dines, a small gratuity to luggage staff is appreciated.  Definitely book dining in advance.

However, one previously did leave luggage when not dining, where the fee was $5 per item, and out of courtesy did request/advise in advance.
It was recently posted on CC that there was no charge for non-diners, who just rock up, but one has no first hand knowledge of this.

Thank you, Not sure if we will dine there. But certainly will have a cocktail if we can. Have no problem paying and tipping..

I will reach out to them and see if we need to let them know how many pieces of luggage we'll be leaving with them. Basically going to just walk around for a couple hours till noonish

Is it a good spot to go to around lunchtime for a drink and an app maybe?

Our stop in SJ is pretty short in April and we wouldn't mind a pina colada and a snack.

If one wishes to experience the history and essence of OSJ, then take cocktails and nibbles at El Convento…..  take a step back in time and feel the history while enjoying the refreshments.
