cmptrwiz Posted November 6, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2023 Typically most deposits are NON-refundable. Check the fine print.

kelkel2 Posted November 8, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2023 A friend of mine just went through this. Short answer is no. I mean, it’s possible you booked with a fully refundable rate but I doubt it. Most of them aren’t. Carnival did offer him future cruise credit for the amount of his deposit though. hapytobehr Posted November 8, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2023 The easiest way to find out is to click on "cancel cruise" (it wont cancel) and it will tell you the penalty. 2

You still pay a penalty if you have a PVP or TA...you mean just so people have somebody to call and ask questions like this?

Several reasons, was it an education factor of the op when they booked the cruise? Did they even know the differences between the different booking classes and which ones a re refundable up to final payment date? Did they understand when a deposit is refundable and up to what date. I am not knocking the op, just pointing out that prevention is much easier than trying to fix a problem.

Try that and let me know, I've tried several times since they got rid of vaccine mandates and was told they're no longer waiving fees under any circumstances. When's the last time you got a fee waived?

Exact same ship/cabin.

Mine was one of those free balcony offers. $100pp deposit that came back as OBC. Total (including taxes, port fees, gratuities and insurance) was little over $700 for a 5 night cruise out of Jacksonville. Like I said previously, they just transferred evreything to the new date.

The point is/was that some people really do not know the difference, and book the cheapest, restricted price. I would be willing to wager that a significant number of people who book online are unaware the different classes, sales, reduced deposit and ramifications and more. You do not need to go far on here to see things that prove my point. 2
