love2gocruzin Posted November 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2023 I am so frustrated with trying to check-in for our December cruise. I have sailed RCCL many times along with other cruise lines and have never had a problem. Here is my issue: I was born in Australia (moved to US with American parents at about 6 months). My birth certificate is Australian. I live in South Carolina. I use a SC driver's license. When trying to check in, I can complete only part: Country of Birth: Australia Country of Citizenship: United States Birth Certificate State: ****This dropdown only allows US states.*** Driver's License State: South Carolina I have called and not gotten any help from RCCL (language barrier). I have not ever sailed with a passport and my birth certificate and driver's license has not ever been an issue. I am hoping someone can give advice. My travel agent tells me to check in at the port. This makes me nervous because I will not have a boarding pass and the rest of my family and friends will have everything they need. Any help is greatly appreciated. smokeybandit Posted November 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2023 (edited) Do you have an American-issued birth certificate? Edited November 17, 2023 by smokeybandit

GJustice Posted November 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2023 Pick SC as the state and they'll verify the AU birth certificate at the terminal if at all.
irishgal432 Posted November 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2023 I would reach out on Twitter to Royal Caribbean. They are very responsive with many different issues and 99.9percent of the time have correct info versus phone agents.
Ken at the beach Posted November 17, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2023 The option to sail with only a DL and Birth certificates is only available for US citizens. With your current ID I would assume that you will also need a document showing that you are a US citizen.
LeeW Posted November 18, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2023 OP is a citizen by definition (US parents) but not sure how one would get a document proving that, other than a passport. Military kids born out of country can have the same problem. Technically a Real ID should prove citizenship but will the port folks recognize this? jcl410 Posted November 18, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2023 After you were born, your parents most likely obtained a a "Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) " from the US State Department. That would have been required to get your passport needed to get home when you were a baby. Try and locate your CRBA. That can be used as your birth certificate along with your drivers license. Otherwise, here's the link to request a replacement: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/records-and-authentications/requesting-a-vital-record-as-a-u-s--citizen/replace-amend-CRBA.html Aloha, John
