floridababa Posted December 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2023 When booking air thru HAL when are my selected seats mine? I have been told two stories. 1. When I pay for tickets and request early ticketing 2. When cruise is paid for in full? A few months ago I ended up having to return a day early because my seats were given away. We are very picky with seats Does anyone know the answer? Can't even get a supervisor from air dept on the phone
Rare FlaMariner Posted December 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2023 From my recent experience w/Flight Ease, I was able to book seats once I made final payment and then asked the TA to go ahead and request the air ticket......Then I could go in and find a seat. That was on Air Canada. On another previous trip, the flight was on British Air and they charge a fee for any seat requested in advance so we never requested seats and did just fine w/wherever they put us. If I had a question about getting confirmed seats, I'd direct it to my TA to handle.
Rare Mary229 Posted December 21, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2023 It depends on the airline not whether you booked through flight ease or not. I use American a lot and unless you directly pay them the fee for a seat upgrade nothing is guaranteed and even if you do pay it may not be guaranteed
floridababa Posted December 22, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted December 22, 2023 The problem is there are not many premium economy seats

Then, call the airline and see what it costs to move to premium. You'll have to use the air line's record locator and not the flight ease one. You won't have to pay for the HAL portion of the flights, but you will have to pay for the upgrades. But, once you pay the airline, you'll have seats - guaranteed.

Rare electro Posted December 22, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2023 a tag on air question: has anyone booked air 10 months out and had the price go up before final payment? I just booked air for our Oct transatlantic cruise from athens, we got a really good price with the $500 air credit. I'm wondering if I can expect to keep that price of if i should expect it to go up. Final payment is in July. Thanks

I have had schedule changes and sometimes those schedule changes may cause me to change flights and then I would get a fare change.
aa7yy Posted December 23, 2023 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2023 For me, to book early I had to pay off the tickets early. That made the tickets non-refundable so when I canceled the cruise they tried to stick me with the tickets. I turned it around on them as the airline had made a change in my original schedule and I escaped. Now, trying to deal with the previously undefined $500 Airfare Credit makes it pretty much worthless. I book direct using my AA or Alaska Credit Card

If you pick flexible you can change or cancel the flight as often as you would like up to final payment date

To pick your seats you had to pay off, that made it early. Once they are paid off you can't cancel. Seats are important to us.
