No show reservations available pre-cruise

Today is #21 before departure. Sailing on the Bliss.

Reservation window for the 2 productions shows did not open.

I called NCL this morning. The agent said that, for reasons unknown, there will be no advance reservations for this cruise.

He said to be once onboard to go to Guest Services for this.

I'll guess that that desk will be a total circus during boarding - and for a while afterward.

Do any of you NCL experts know if there is another location (like they do for dining) on board for shows?

Last times we were on the Bliss reservations were made at the comedy club .

Guest services would not be able to help.

All of these are correct. You honestly shouldn't have a problem as long as you do it same afternoon you board. On my recent Viva cruise they didn't do any show reservations (the GM said it was a one time thing) and we had no issues getting great seats to both shows.

Most likely they are switching all shows to open seating where reservations is needed

Don't think that I understand what you're saying.

Except where they block at some reserved areas, all shows are open seating, even with reservations.

I suspected as much.   😁

Yes.  The long version is that using the touch screens is a great approach if they are in fact working.  It's a question of if they are working.  It's a suggestion to use them if they are. 🤡

True story.  On a recent NCL cruise, it was suggested to us to use a certain touch screen.  It looked just like the other one in that elevator bay, but it was the one that was allowing show reservations.  Why?  Well, it's part of the grand NCL IT world.🤣

So, without a "treasure map", someone just might be playing touch screen roulette.

Who said the casino doesn't open while you're still docked.  😮

Available around 2:30-3:00 pm when your room opens. You won’t get high demand things if you wait for your room.

Now, I know that The Bird must have the answers.

Aside form (some) touch screens, where would one go for those reservations?

As mentioned in the posts above, the theater box office, the touch screens (I guess I am lucky because the ones I have used have all worked) and typically one of the comedy clubs (depends on the ship). I have even left a show that I particularly liked, walked up to the touchscreen outside the theater and booked the late show for the same night. Standby line has always been successfuly too.

The Birds normally board with the Diamond Group at 11:15. And head to show reservations at the box office or comedy club (no longer needed on many ships - going to first come first serve). Then over to Teppanyaki to adjust any dining reservations around shows.

Observations

1. people always talk about trying to get to the ship’s Wi-Fi from the terminal to get a jump start. To a large extent, the ship often has not switched to the “next cruise”’until boarding starts or after boarding has commences. You can’t log on to your account to book anything

2. For a similar reason, touch screens are sometimes useless when we first board.

3. The Birds like to stop and pick up an entertainment menu so that we can see all of the main shows and then adjust or dining around it. RCCL has a much nicer entertainment menu left in your stateroom. You can only get the NCL menu by picking it up yourself

4. If the ship’s IT transitions in time,’we will book things on the app. If not, we will book with a human person at the “box office”

On our most recent cruise, we also registered to become a contestant for Press Your Luck at the box office as soon as we embarked.

Thanks, Bird.

You're the best.

Where do you pick up that entertainment menu? The fellow who documented his Bliss cruise that ended a few days ago posted a pic of it. Don't think it was mentioned from whence it came. I thought maybe they handed them out at check in.

They are available at the “box office” / show reservations locations on embarkation day.  On some ships, it is the Comedy Club. On some ships, it is actually the box office at the theater. On our Viva and Prima crises, it was on the Theater.

Got it.

Guess I'll need to explore a bit.

Thanks again.

@BirdTravels gave the best info based on technology often not working upon boarding.  In fact, we stopped trying to connect to NCL internet until after sail away.   Just ask the NCL greeter once you first get onboard.  They will be able to direct you to both entertainment and dining reservations.
