Mon Papillon Posted December 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2023 We are planning on taking a cruise on the Quest as we have in the past. In the old days we were able to choose our own cabin online. This time, we are unable to. All we can do is choose a category, but after we enter our personal information a cabin number has already been selected for us. Are we missing something? Is the best approach to proceed with the booking online and then call Azamara to choose our cabin? If so, that’s a step backward from the past. Thank you for any suggestions you may have. luv2travel90266 Posted December 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2023 It will suggest your cabin but you can change it online. A list will appear of availablr cabins based upon upon your choice. Personally we prefer a 7th floor center of ship for smooth sailing along with access to the free laundry. You might find a travel agent who can also help you. Note there is information on cruise critic based upon prior cruisers and what they rated the specific room they sailed in.
Mon Papillon Posted December 23, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted December 23, 2023 Thank you so much for your prompt feedback. I was not aware of this but we will follow your suggestion. We too prefer the 7th. deck.
Whitby100 Posted December 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2023 Some US online cruise companies show available cabins which can be helpful when directing your TA. A quick google search could be helpful.
Mon Papillon Posted December 23, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted December 23, 2023 In response to luv2travel90266, I do not see a list of available cabins. You can edit your personal information but not the cabin assigned.
trk_koa Posted December 23, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 23, 2023 I was trying to make a booking and edited the cabin selection and it says the one I want is selected but the next step reverts back to the one they assigned. I’ll have to call on Tuesday.
Mon Papillon Posted December 23, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted December 23, 2023 I am curious as to what you did to actually be able to edit your assigned cabin.
Dr H Posted December 23, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 23, 2023 We've booked several cruises in recent (sale) days. Nope, cabin choice is NA. Oddly, the last cruise was booked onboard at Sail Again, several rooms popped up, and when the sales agent tried changing our room, poof! The 4 available in our category simply disappeared. Azamara IT being what it is, they may have been sold and truly unavailable, or the Martians were playing games with the computer. The best I've been able to do is request location, non adjoining cabins, floor. It's a major annoyance, and should be a fixable problem
TeaBag Posted December 23, 2023 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) There's a little square with a pencil on it at the right of the page across from categories, on your reservation page. If you click that, a menu drops and allows you to click on cabin selection. Then a list of cabins appears. It annoys me that they think they can select your cabin. Like trk, I had the same problem. Selected my cabin but when I went back to my reservation details, it still said 6001 which I didn't want. I gave up, after trying about 6 times and booked the cabin I wanted from a TA. Just this AM I went back to see if they had fixed this and lo and behold I did get the cabin I selected this morning and the one I am booked in was gone from the list as it should be. Good luck in getting the cabin you want. Edited December 23, 2023 by TeaBag
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 23, 2023 #10 Share Posted December 23, 2023 I thought I remembered this tip about the pencil icon – not very intuitive, but it has been reported that this is the only way to select your cabin on the Azamara website. Maybe the best advice is to use a TA – they have access to a different platform that is much easier to use. [And of course many give great benefits.]
Mon Papillon Posted December 23, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted December 23, 2023 Interestingly, I did not see that paper/pencil icon to the right of categories. But my wife did when she used her tablet (she then saw a few cabins available). And yet we are both using Safari as our browser. Inexplicable. Any way, I thought I would just save my initial booking with the hope that I could edit the cabin. But I can’t. And now, I cannot even get rid of that saved booking. How long does a saved booking remain until you actually make the deposit?

luv2travel90266 Posted December 23, 2023 #13 Share Posted December 23, 2023 A good travel agent is a valuable resource along with providing you either a discount or additional on board credits in addition to what you see on Azamara's website. There are independent cruise specialist advertising on the web, organizations that have travel departments and some big box stores offer travel too. We aren't allowed to specifically name any but only a few minutes of a websearch will locate many.
Mon Papillon Posted December 23, 2023 Author #14 Share Posted December 23, 2023 I understand the suggestion about getting a Travel Agent. I still would like to know how I can get rid of my saved booking on the website and how long it will remain before the deposit is made. Thank you all.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 24, 2023 #15 Share Posted December 24, 2023 You can't get around the Cruise Critic ban on sharing TA info. Hosts are much smarter than AI...
