When should we purchase airline tickets?

I do a lot of research and usually book my flights for my cruises a month or two after those flights become available. You should start looking now to get an idea...actually I would have started sooner...JMHO. Best of luck.

Also I book my cruises when that schedule comes out to get the possible best price, itinerary and cabin.

I agree with @Ashland. Book now. And if your route happens to be available from Breeze Airways, if the fare goes down you can rebook it at the lower price and get a credit for the difference. We found Breeze a couple of years ago and it has saved us a lot of money.

Our first family cruise will be in late May. When is the best time to purchase tickets? Thanks.

There really isn't a 'best time'.  If there were, no one book at any other time.

Use one of those online travel agencies to monitor flights until you find the flight/class/time/cost that suits you then book it.

BTW, the cheapest flights are not always the best if you have very long layovers, your flight leaves at 0330 AM, etc.

The is commonly discussed on the Cruise Air board, here:

There is no "magic time" to buy air fares. You need to do your research, find a price you can live with, buy, and don't look back.

If you are flying just a few months from now, its highly likely the cheapest fares have already been sold.

Start looking now and if you see a price that is in your range, book it.  May is only 5 months away.
