Disembark MSC cruise in Marghera - how?

Hello,

Disembarking the MSC Armonia in Marghera (Venice) in April 2024. Traveling alone, handling own luggage.

How does it work? Are we transferred onto buses to go into Venice (Piazzale Roma)?
If staying in a Venice hotel: are we shuttled by tender boats or water taxi - where to, and do we pay?

If headed to the Venezia-Mestre train station - can we get a taxi from the ship into Mestre, if not staying in Venice?

Can you please explain how disembarking works for those of us not headed to the airport, please. Thank you.

We’re on Lirica out of Marghera next year, so this was puzzling me as well…

Apparently they transfer you to the old cruise terminal at Stazione Marittima and you’ll be reunited with your luggage there. (Reverse for boarding at Marghera, check in at the old terminal, then get transferred to the ship.)

Hello:

since you are in Marghera, may you want to go to Venezia it is quite easy. There are several bus lines and two tram lines with several stops and the train in Mestre and Marghera. Just choose nearest one.

All of them will stop in Pz Roma (except train that will stop in Santa Lucia station)

I have to factor in getting to the VCE airport for a very early flight out a couple of days later.

Trying to decide between a hotel in Cannaregio, or one right next to the Venezia-Mestre train station instead. The one in Mestre will allow to drop off the suitcase early, and will be a much better value (even factoring the expense of the train into Venice itself.)

The luggage can easily be carried off the ship in Marghera, and was hoping that a taxi to Mestre could be taken from the port there.

Was on Sinfonia in November 2022 disembarking in Marghera. We were tendered onto Venice Stazione Marittima. The luggage was taken with another boat and we found it at the terminal. If you want to find another way to leave the ship in Marghera you should speak at the reception.

Hi all,

I have a similar question that I am having a difficult time finding the answer to.

My parents are sailing on the Armonia in June and will be disembarking in Marghera. Their flight is at 12:30pm, but according to the itinerary, their ship is not scheduled into port until 10am. Does anyone know if they can disembark and catch a taxi directly from Marghera to VCE? Or will they have to be bussed back to the main terminal in Venice before heading to the airport?

I wouldn't be comfortable with that flight time.

a 12.30 pm flight ist with an arrival time from 10am not possible. It will take more than 1 hour from the ship to the airport. And you have to be there 2 hours before your flight.

From Marghera you can't take a taxi to the airport. You and your luggage will be transported by boat to the Venice Cruise Terminal in the city of Venice. That will take approximately 30 - 45 Min and then with the taxi  20 - 30 Min oder the boat 30 Min to the airport. So no chance for your flight.

How it works with Venice and Marghera.

You check in a disembark at the Stazione Marittima di Venezia a Venice, then they transfer you by boat (like a vaporetto from Venice) to the Ship in the industrial Port of Marghera. You cant't embark oder disembark direkt to or from Marghera, you have to go to the Stazione Marittima in Venice. So the process will take more time then normal, the boat transfer from the Stazione Maritime to the port is 30 Min.

Hi - i'm doing the same cruise (setting sail the 15th). Saying in a hotel in Venice. I haven't looked into it in too much detail but there is a description of where to go on my booking screen.

Venice Marittima to Venice Marghera Port - MSC Embarkation via Tender Boat

This video shows the embarkation process via tender boat. Disembarkation is probably done in the reversed way. If an MSC cruise arrives at Marghera at 9 am, passengers will probably get back to Marittima at 10 am to 12 pm, depending on so many unexpected variables.

MSC has both - tender boats and buses between Stazione Marittima and Marghera. Both is used for embarkation and disembarkation. Luggage will be transferred to Stazione Marittima.

Worst disembarkation ever last saterday 30 march Lirica from Marghera.
We had last slot 13.35 but about 12h everybody was asked to disembark.
Then everthing stopped, we were at the stairs for about 45minutes before waiting for the last tenderboat. (Another 15minutes).
Arriving at the terminal there was a line of about few honderd meters for customs and lugage claim. Another hour and wasted.
After we had our lugage we would like to take a taxi but there was also a long line waiting for only a few taxis also a crowd at the People Mover.
As a last resort we walked to Piazzala Roma with our lugage (about 25 minutes) to get a busticket to the airport (Bus at 15.40h) so we were only 10 minutes late for checkin for our flight.
So make sure you have enough spare time for disembarkation in Marghera.
Or try to get a ship transfer early because we could not book it, SOLD OUT.

We are taking a cruise from Venice on MSC Lirica in July 2024. On the last day, we arrive in Venice Marghera at 7am, and we have a flight home at 12:00 pm from Venice Marco Polo - any chances we can make it? Is there any option to book transfer from the ship to the airport ?

You can book an MSC coach direct from Marghera to Marco Polo which will depart about 9am and arrive at airport by 10am, so tight but not impossible for a 12 noon flight.

Otherwise the free coach transfers to old cruise terminal depart later and then you'd need to walk to Piazza Roma and wait for a scheduled ATVO coach to the airport, so doubt you'd make last check-in.

Got off MSC Sinfonia on Sunday.  Water buses were only being used for excursions.  Disembarking passengers collected luggage at Marghera terminal and boarded coaches for onward travel, either to Station Maritime or direct to airports, trains, parking, bus stations, etc.

And what about the many passengers that do not embark/disembark in Venice? Can they use the water bus or are they forced to use the coaches? And are "tender" tickets needed?

I believe Water bus arrangement includes a free transfer to old cruise terminal for self guided excursion option, but can't say for sure, as we embarked and disembarked in Venice.

Yes, once onboard at the excursions desk, do it early to avoid disappointment.
