I’m glad you liked it but was wondering if you felt less engaged with other Haven passengers? With the cabins being away from the facilities, did you still feel like it was “all one thing”? All of the Haven cabins and facilities are together on the aft of the ship. We met several other groups in the Haven on Viva. We never met anyone in Haven on Breakaway. I thought it was better on Viva.

Another complaint. deck 8 walks sort of around but you have to weave in and around people at the pools and dining outside indulge. We did manage to walk it a few times, but it was less crowded when we did it as we had a cold cruise, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik.

I feel like we are going backwards with the haves and have nots. The Haven takes up a good third of this ship, at least. Most people absolutely cannot afford Haven, so we are left feeling like steerage on Titanic - squished in. I think problems on this ship could be solved if so much of the ship wasn’t reserved just for the well to do (that can probably afford to Viking or more luxury brands.) Correct. Hence why we do not generally patronize the mass lines, only the Premium and Luxury brands as they do not have this overt caste system. They still have some perks for being higher categories, but there is no real segmentation of the ship. Eliminating forward views is absolutely not acceptable to us. The QM2 is our favorite ship and there are magnificent forward views inside and outside.
Pat.D Posted January 22 #180 Share Posted January 22 I sailed the Prima in January of last year and it was not for me for most of the reasons stated in this thread. I've been on 50+ cruises, dozens of them with NCL and loved almost all of them but the Prima was the first time I could not wait to get off the ship. Glad some people like the Prima, I'll stick to other ships.

This is not a caste system because a caste is non-voluntary and can't be changed. When you go to see a broadway type show, you choose whether you want orchestra, floor, box, or balcony seats. Or you can choose to not go. There is no choice in a caste system. One reason many like the ship in a ship concept is that by paying more you have all the extra perks but can still enjoy all that a bigger ship can offer like more entertainment, restaurants, casino, etc.

Your review sort of hit home with me watching videos and wondering about the same things you have experienced. The Haven looks beautiful but as you discovered not very functional. Most say they dont mind taking elevators to the Haven. Like you, I prefer to just open my door and be inside the Haven. I have Aqua booked in the Haven. Translation: we don’t normally sail mass market lines because we don’t want to be around the poor people. 1

SeaShark Posted January 22 #185 Share Posted January 22 1 hour ago, QuestionEverything said: How do you know that? How do you not? The inference is so clear I'm surprised that Captain Obvious didn't announce it. Yes, the premium and luxury brands (interesting that in your post you capitalize premium and luxury, but use small letters on mass market) do not have this "overt caste system", mainly because it comes built in to the premium and luxury concept...the poors have already been excluded. Thank you for your analysis. Interesting. My thoughts are focused on the physical construction of the vessel, not the price point. Thanks for advising that the ship still retains forward views, that is so important in being on a vessel. Unfortunately many new ships have lost the forward view. Regards.
