Is it possible to drop off carry on luggage after boarding?

When we went on our RCL cruise in October we just gave everything to the guys at the bag check, carry ons and all. We had forgotten to print luggage tags so they gave us blank ones to fill out and they asked if we wanted to check the other things. I would imagine NCL would do that too.

Specifically asking about the NCL Getaway and checking carry on bags on board, not at the outside bag check...  I'm hearing it near the casino?

In the casino, at least that is where it was when I boarded two weeks ago

That's where it was last May, too. They take your bag and give you a claim ticket.

When I was on the Getaway this month it was in the casino.  On another ship it was the comedy club.  If they change the location you’ll find out once you board.

This was an old thread but need to know if it's still available (and where if it is)  Specifically on the NCL Getaway....  Thanks in advance.....

14 NCL cruises and we always roll our carry on's and back packs with us. Its easy enough to put them under a table while having lunch, after lunch cabins are normally ready. We do the same thing when we have a suite or a Haven cabin

Anyone know if they have this on the Bliss?

Yes, on the Star two weeks ago it was the Bliss lounge, you could drop bags until 2PM.

This has varied for me depending on ship: some have a bag check area, on others I’ve been told to drop my bag off at the stateroom (even if the room isn’t ready yet), on others I’ve been told I have to carry my bag with me until the rooms are ready.

These days, I generally just bring a small drawstring backpack for embarkation day, and check my suitcase through to the room.

We have checked our carry on bags on each of the past few cruises. As we board, we ask a crew member two things, which lounge has the carry on drop off and which MDR is open for lunch that day. It has always been in one of the lounges, a roped off area with staff that provides a claim ticket. The only issue was that on one cruise, the service ended before the cabins were open but at least we didn't need to cart them to lunch and our initial ship exploration.

Thanks - didn't know you could do that......  Been on over 20 cruises and have never done it.....

It's become more commonplace since the reduction in housekeeping staff. Previously most staterooms would be ready by 1pm but now it could be be 3 or 4pm on the larger ships.

On Bliss in October the drop off was outside Q restaurant and on Escape last month it was in the Casino, crew told me the location when I checked in at my muster station.

My mom and I have been known to sneak in our room upon boarding just to put the carry on bags in there and quickly exit, just did this on the Bliss and the steward said it was ok, he saw us too, your experience of course may vary but my mom isn't afraid to give it the ol college try!

I did this on the Prima last year.  We saw the room steward working and asked if it would be okay.

currently on board the getaway.

it is indeed the casino. they'll give you a claim ticket so you can return to retrieve your bag. (it's likely the only time you'll get anything back from the casino.)

Not all ships have been doing it, which is a shame, but it seems more are returning to it.

NCL has started doing this on all ships since moving to once a day room cleaning. The room stewards have a lot more rooms to clean on turnaround days and the rooms are not ready until 2:30 or later. In general, there are a few people who use the service. A small pile of bags on the floor old the casino or a bar.

The ships close the big, heavy fire doors and put big signs out “Stay Out”.

The room stewards, who work for tips, won’t make their first meeting with you saying “What part off ‘Stay Out’ was not clear??? Do you read English????”

You get in the way. If you touch anything in the room, they could fail a supervisor inspection and they should watch that you don’t take anything from other rooms with open doors.

Stay Out.

Try stopping my mom bud, I wouldn't do it if it were up to me, nor did I encourage anyone else to do it, but thinking that anyone would do this to go into someone else's room and take stuff is just absurd and insulting, but have a good day anyway!

first of all, this is terrible advice.  If you say you've seen the "stay out" sign, the so be it.  I've never seen it.  And it's never been an issue with going to your room and dropping off your things.  I've even walked past the supervisors (as recently as two weeks ago) and they smile and greet you just as if the fire doors were open.Don't hang out in the cabin or start unpacking.  Just drop off your things.

I agree and think it’s rude to go in the room until it’s clear. I have seen the signs and saw parents with their children disobey the rule. This sets a really bad example to the children and teaches disrespect.
