Refundable on board credits

Last may we did a long cruise on princess with both non- and refundable OBC. We used all the non-refundable and were told we would receive a check by mail for the $200 refundable.

After a few months, no check!

Checking with both TA and princess, they gave me the contact for the company they outsource this with. I  called many times over the last year.  Put on long holds, and left multiple messages. Never got a hold of anyone or a return call.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a solution to get my credit back?

Thanks,

Karen

Are you trying to ask a question about OBC or are you just sharing you used all your OBC?

Cheers

It appears that the first post was accidentally posted before it was complete.
I have always received a check for my unused refundable OBC within a couple of weeks!

Refundable OBC would be credited to the credit card you used to pay for your cruise if booked with Princess.  If with a TA, the credit goes through them.

Have never heard of a check being mailed.

We have received a check twice. I’m assuming it was for the Veteran’s benefit, which used to be refundable and no longer  is. On the short cruises when we don’t go on an excursion (e.g. Ensenada) because we’ve been to the port often and prefer to stay onboard, sometimes we have $10 or $20 leftover and don’t care to use it all. A few month later we get a check out of nowhere. I’m sure that will stop now that Veterans’ OBC is now non-refundable.

Last year we took a Move Over offer for our Mediterranean cruise.  The cruise fare was given back to us as refundable OBC on our new cruise and since we already had quite a bit of OBC we didn’t use any of the money that was returned to us.  As Princess promised the refundable OBC was sent to us in a nice check six weeks after we returned home.

I have twice received refundable money as a check. The first time I didn't realize the Casino would be closed the next to last night of the cruise and had over $400 stuck in a slot machine. I received a check around a month later. The second time was quite recently on an Australia/New Zealand cruise and I had $657 AUD in refundable OBC left at the end of the voyage(s). I received a check - adjusted to $428 USD - around a month later. If you had refundable OBC left at the end of your cruise you definitely should have received a refund. If not, contact customerservice@princesscruises.com and nicely present your case along with corroborating information. (When we had the large amount of refundable OBC left after cruising down under I not only had a printout from the kiosk near Customer Services but also emails from Princess detailing the amounts due to me.)

The few times we have OBC (always refundable) left we too receive a check from Bottomline (return address includes "for Princess Cruises" so you don't toss the envelope as trash).  The one time we had an issue (also on an Australian cruise) the check was incorrect (too low by a $200 or so).  I contacted customerservice@princesscruises.com providing a spreadsheet supporting the amount due me and received a very timely reply agreeing with me and saying another check would be in the mail within a week.  It was but it too wasn't for the full amount!  I contacted the same rep at customer service and within a few weeks I received the remaining amount due.

We disembarked Ruby on January 29 and received our refund of eligible OBC via snail mail today from Bottomline.

Good to know! We disembarked Regal 1/28 but haven't gotten ours yet. Our refund was due to missed port so we had cancelled excursions and port fees.

Over the past six months, we've noticed here in Australia they've stopped issuing cheques (checks) for refundable OBC. Instead they are using a third party to refund to your chosen bank account. You receive an email first from Princess explaining the new process and supplying you with a code that you will need to enter. Then you get an email from the finance house and you follow the instructions using the code that came from Princess. Has worked promptly for our past three cruises with refunds.

This is not always the case.  Many people here on CC have posted that their refund came via check (usually a couple of months out) and that it is EASILY overlooked because it looks like junk mail.  If you are watching for a refund from Princess...look very carefully at your mail before tossing it!
