Applying Shareholder OBC to Onboard Booking?

Recommended Posts

We've been quoted a much lower price at the future cruise desk. Can't apply future cruise deposit and must be paid in full. My partner thinks we can still apply CCL Shareholder OBC. The future cruise consultant said "you can try". Couldn't provide a yes or no answer. They seemed very new in their position.

Who has booked a pay in full onboard with no OBC offered and applied and been successful with Shareholder OBC applied?

Not exactly apples to apples, but we generally book through the casino department which requires full payment at reservation. We also qualify for the Shareholder OBC benefit, but have never been successful in applying it to the payment of our cruise fare. We are only are able to add it once the cruise is booked as an OBC and in the past it has only been able to be added within about 90 days of the cruise as they want a current stock statement, although recently it appears they are relaxing that as we have already been able to add it for our June cruise. But unfortunately we have never been able to apply it to our cruise fare payment.

Thank you for your response.

We don't want it applied to the cruise fare. We would submit the request through the Stockperks app.

Oh then yes, you should not have any problem. We get comped cruises through the casino department and are still able to add our Shareholder OBC. It doesn’t matter what special discount or even other onboard credit you have, your stock benefit still can be added. The only one I have ever heard about here that might not be compatible is adding both the military and stockholder OBC. But it’s never been an issue with any of our future cruise credits, travel agent credits or casino benefits.

I'm really surprised that they will not accept the FCD.  I've never been faced with that scenario.

For the on board booking promo with a discounted cruise, one of the ‘rules’ are you are not able to apply a FCD. When it is a big discount like the previous 50% off , you still have a good savings. All other benefits apply, like shareholders if you qualify and if your travel agent offers any extra amenities.

Last June we were able to buy 2 FCDs and apply them directly to a 50% off cruise booking for the fall. It sounds like they are as consistently inconsistent as Princess!

Can you post a copy of the list of available cruises under this promo.   We have utilized it in the past and were not able to use FCD.   We did add shareholder and military.  This was on the Sky in September.

Future cruises no longer has a ‘list’. Was just told today discount are for sailings in the next 60 days and not all sailings qualify. You just ask if there is a discount for a sailing you might be interested in and they will check.

I happen to ask about the 32 day Sapphire roundtrip LA for April 5, 2024. The princess.com fare is showing as almost $1900 for the lowest fare, double occupancy. The on board booking fare is currently pricing at just over $1300 , so an almost $600 savings or about 30%.

Was told they no longer produce a list as the sailings are selling out very quickly and pricing is very dynamic, so you need to ask about the particular sailings you might want.

There's no list to post.

If you get  a discounted cruise fare, Carnival will not let you apply the Stockholders benefit - but Princess does!

I stated we are CCL shareholders.  Princess doesn’t have stand-alone stock.

Going to add the only thing they are actively promoting with every visit is Princess Packages. My partner politely asked them to not go through their presentation to save their time and ours.

Sorry for any confusion, but I was not talking about the type of stock, but rather the difference between policies of the two cruise lines.  Booking on a Carnival ship, I have a couple times been refused the shareholders credit because I was on a discounted fare.  When sailing on a Princess ship, I have never been refused the shareholders credit, regardless of the fare.

We have experienced the same with the casino booking department - hard sell tactics that rival the extended warranty pitch at a car dealership! 😂 We also politely, but firmly, let them know we can skip that conversation!
