We have a 11:30am checking time!  My question is after we go to our cabin and lunch will we be able to back out and walk around Yokohama area, since ship doesn’t depart until 7:00pm. We know that we would have to be back around 5:00pm. Just wondering!

Most ports you can go ashore after embarkation.    You just bring your SeaPass card with you and use that to board.   When we did a B2B there we were told we need to be back to the ship 1 1/2 hour prior to departure.

One port we recently experienced that did not allow you to go ashore after embarkation was Sydney.    Once you are on the ship in Sydney you are not permitted back ashore.

That’s obviously changed recently, Jim, as we did go back ashore in Sydney. We are talking 2012 on Solstice, so things may have possibly changed since then 🤭.

We have done 3 cruises to Japan so far. Needless to say we fell in love with Japan after the first cruise 🙂 Our most recent one was in October 2023 on Millennium. And when we came back, we were already looking for another one. So we booked #4 for May 2025.

If you like, we have some travelogues for you as teasers.
