It's been 4 years since I was in the YC for a Caribbean cruise.  One thing I really appreciated was that the pool area was far from crowded.  It sounds like that has changed.  I'm not sure why, since they didn't add anymore YC cabins☹️

I was on last weeks sailing.  The YC pool was always occupied, but I wouldn't have called it crowded.  At least while we were on the pool deck, there were only a handful of smaller kids (4-5) splashing themselves and others as all kids do.  There would also always be a handful of adults in the main pool (another 6-8 maybe) and there would always be another handful sitting on the edges of the pool area (another 6-8).  I would not have described the pool as crowded and I don't like any crowds.

No escorts there for non YC but you just go and scan.  We just went after lunch since we were escorted to the YC as a huge group. It took seconds.  Much better than Grandiosa YC in 2022

Very lazy day on board.  The welcome party in YC was very well attended.  This captain is adorable!  
Had a great lunch in dining room and then played some games in the lounge.  Now it’s time to get ready for elegant night!!

Your Angus burger for lunch should have had battered and fried onion rings not those raw slices. On the Meraviglia they were awesome.

Yes, we were in the same frame of mind for 50 years of cruising. Now in the twilight of our years we no longer find the destinations of any interest. Have discovered that there exists a charm, an idyllic beauty that exists from afar. Upon closer examination one finds disappointment around every corner. The tour guides, taxi driver guides, the people, would all trade places with you in an instant. Now our focus is ship, cabin, food, and treatment on board. Covid woke us up to our impending fates. Also paying this for one evening is understandable if one is a 'REAL' fan.

I get it - we've done the grand suite on Grandeur (we could do 5 more and still wouldn't total 30k).  Won't be an issue anyway, as 5 YC experiences for 30k is a way better value for us.

Dinner last night was fantastic. Great lobsters!  Had the bisque and lobster.  Everyone skipped dessert tonight.  Went to movie name that tune.  32/40 but not a win.  Show was entertaining.  Surprised by amount of talking in theater and sounds of electronics.

Had a great day in San Juan yesterday.  Walked to the fort and then to Barachina where the pina colada was allegedly invented.  Longish wait for well worth it

Last night dinner was Butcher Cut!  Superb!  My friend thought her filet was way better there than YC. 
played name that tune love songs.  35/40 but someone had 36

rest of night enjoyed various acts in Caberet. Definitely one of my favorite venues on any ship!

Today we are in Puerto Plata. We went for a walk to umbrella street, pink street and the amber museum. Very easily walkable once you navigate the gauntlet of tour guides.  It was really hot though so we went back for a dip in the pool before pizza for lunch at the buffet.  Then we played some games in the lounge.

That strawberry cheesecake in BC looks terrific.  Having lost count of the number of times I’ve had it (on several ships) and  mostly good, that’s the best I’ve seen.  Last few times, it’s been such a letdown that I’ve went with the chocolate lava cake (yum).   That photo has made the decision for me to have it, at least once, on our Seascape cruise.

We are doing all these expensive cabins so you don't have to. Will report and compare.

Yesterday dinner in hola tacos.  Huge miss.  Slooooow service.  Bad food.  Not good.  I think we messed up buying three meal package since third has to be Ocean Key.  Not impressed with mention there.  Live and learn.

Just know your limits. I learned I could handle 3 before lunch, but 4 was one too many and I would spend the rest of the day in a coma!
