TRAVELCRUZIN Posted April 7 #1 Share Posted April 7 I typically cruise out of florida, however with it being hurricane season that is not an option this year. Does the west coast have a similar season? Or time of year you shouldn't cruise in case of weather issues? I very much want to take a west coast cruise down to mexico. Thank You
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted April 7 #2 Share Posted April 7 Nope, CA to MX is mostly good all year around. If you leave from San Francisco it can be a little foggy and cold sometimes. But, Sept/Oct is probably one of the best times to visit and cruise from any port in CA.
Ashland Posted April 7 #3 Share Posted April 7 We cruise (RCI) often from San Pedro during this time and weather is usually great.
9tee2Sea Posted April 7 #4 Share Posted April 7 windy, not cold winds, but warm ,sometimes very warm, strong winds. In my area of Los Angeles, the winds can gust upto 60 mph during that time of year. And of course that's the " fire season" in the local mountains. Usually around Halloween, the weather turns to misty, sometimes rainy.
Skittles Posted April 7 #5 Share Posted April 7 Is September and October warm enough to sit on cruise decks?

julia Posted April 7 #7 Share Posted April 7 23 minutes ago, Glaciers said: https://myperfectalaskacruise.com/cruise-alaska/worst-time-for-alaska-cruise/ The OP was asking about a west coast cruise to Mexico, not Alaska. OP: Sept and Oct are great months on the west coast, and yes, plenty warm for deck sitting.
Glaciers Posted April 7 #8 Share Posted April 7 @julia Thank you, my mistake. Another area to post this would be on the "Mexican Riviera" thread. Maybe they have...
CruiserBruce Posted April 7 #9 Share Posted April 7 There is definitely a hurricane season on the West Coast, just typically not as affecting of the cruise industry. And just like in Florida, for hurricanes to exist, the air and water temps must be warm. It can be very warm in the Mexican Rivera in the fall months. jcc1025 Posted April 15 #13 Share Posted April 15 We live in Long Beach, those are great months to sail out of the west coast ports. Will be warm and sunny all the time. Here we can get a marine layer in May (May gray) and June (June gloom) that can block the sun, still warm enought just not as much sun during those months.
