Passport Processing Times.

Recommended Posts

We mailed ours in (standard snail mail) the first week in Feb and received them mid March approx one week apart.  Did not pay for expedited  processing.  Have not yet received our old ones.  I also noticed that the status shown on the State Dept website was inaccurate.

I mailed my passport renewal form late last month with regular service, the passport office received it on May 31 per tracking. My new passport was delivered on June 12. Still waiting on my old passport to be returned, but no rush on it of course.

I’m glad to hear these timeframes.  I mailed my passport renewal yesterday using express priority mail and paid extra for expedited processing and return.  I’m hoping I’ll get the new one within a few weeks.

Sent off renewal Mar 4. Got a letter saying I forgot to include my passport card, sent passport card. Got my new passport May 4. Two months even with a boo-boo.

Submitted my kids and received their new passports in 3 weeks.

Kinda odd, that kids are 5 years and old folks are 10 years.

The reason for that is kids physically change so fast, not so much with old folks.

And yet when they turn 16 they can get the 10 year one. Which will be funny when my then 21 year old travels next summer. He had short, cropped hair back when he was 16. Now, not so much. He has that very common long, floppy, curly hair. LOL!

While these rules have been in place for a good while, now Homeland Security is all about facial recognition and much less about comparing a picture on a Passport to what the inspector sees.

Hello All,

How long have you guys been seeing on Passport Processing Times recently?

Thanks in advanced.

Are you renewing?  I can be done fully online now.  I'm seeing people in a couple travel groups getting them back in about ten days.  I did this during the first beta test a few years ago and I think it took mine a week, non-expedited.

As  I mentioned in my post on June 21st, I mailed my renewal application on June 20th, expedited processing and expedited return.  I received my new passport yesterday, so 13 days from me mailing it and receiving the finished product.

Hello All,

Thanks for all the information.

I ended up renewing my Passport on line. it was so easy to do. I submitted my application on 07-08-2024 and received it in the mail on 07-18-2024, Crazy Fast. I did not pay to expedite it.

After applying on-line, did you then have to mail your old passport in?  Did they have to receive it before issuing the new one?
