Dining at Blu with non Aqua guest for a fee?

We asked the Blu Maitre'D on a previous cruise if friends could join us and it was a very firm, but apologetic, 'no'.

Was standing behind a lady at the hostess desk at Luminae last night and she was asking about the charge for guests to join for dinner.  She was told $36 pp, for dinner and $24 for lunch.  since we are in Australia that included the gratuity.  
I also though it had been raised to $50 pp + gratuity.
