Blue Chip Club Offer and Upgrading to a Higher Level Room!

Question for you Blue Chip Club Experts. When you get a free interior room and you upgrade (pay) to Concierge class room do you get the 5 points per day?

This may have been covered but can’t find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

No. You get the points for what you qualified for.

When you PAY to upgrade then yes you get the higher point level.  Or at least we always have.

We didn’t. We paid to upgrade and didn’t get the extra points. It was the same on our last 4 comped casino cruises

Sorry for that for you.  At least two cruises we have paid to upgrade to Aqua and received at least 5 points per night.

Same for us, every time we pay to upgrade, we get the upgraded points.  (Of course it's different if you do a move up).

We paid to upgrade to prime concierge and did not get the extra points. Only received 12 points for a 6 night cruise.

I might have to call them then. We had 4 comped cruises and paid to upgrade and didn’t get the points from any of them. Will call tomorrow ……maybe you were just lucky!

Please report back. Seems to me if one pays for the upgrade then they should get the associated points. Could be that you didn’t/some don’t due to the way the booing is originally shown in the system.

We have always received the points, paying to upgrade from Veranda to Aq.

We called yesterday. Talked to a so called supervisor. We got a free interior and at the same time upgraded to concierge. She said it has always been that if you get a free interior room thats the points you get no matter what level you upgrade to.

Seems insane to me. So if you get a free interior and upgrade to a the retreat you only get interior points?

Again makes no sense you paid for the upgrade…these CS people are hit or miss and one will tell you one thing and the next one will tell you something different.

We are cruising next week on a blue chip offer we upgraded to a veranda. I'll report back on what credit we receive.

I just called BCC. They told me that whatever cabin is booked is the points earned. If your comped room is an interior you will only get 2 pts/nt even if you pay to upgrade to a Veranda, Concierge, etc.  I have to believe what she told me because we have taken 4 comped cruises so far. One was Dec 2022, two were Dec 2023 and one was April 2024. For each of them I paid to upgrade cabins and didn’t get the extra points. Not sure how some of you are getting the points, but you are very lucky!

Per my post of 4/30, I can report back that we only received points for the inside cabin even though we upgraded the offer to a veranda.

Even outside of Blue Chip if you get a reduced cost upgrade you don't get CC  points for the upgraded cabin.  This changed about 10 years ago even before Move UP.    I was offered a reduced price RS upgrade on my Veranda GTY booking.  Even though I paid $3000 for the upgrade I only got the 3 pts/day.  That was in 2014.
