Getting comped?

Just met a retired teacher on my cruise,  she is doing 3 months of continuous cruising, though much of it on RC, but about 3 weeks on princess, all comped she says.

She didn't give details,  but how much do you have to gamble per year to get this? Are there certain amounts you get certain things, probably starting w free packages, all the way up to free or discounted cruises. She was a teacher, so I can't believe she could be dropping 50k a year just in gambling (of course the whales have never lost ;-)

Princess Players Casino Comps are point based. It’s approx 5,000/6000 points to receive an interior Come Back And Sail. If you get on the list though you start receiving many offers through email based on past play.

Ok, appreciate the quick reply. What is a point worth? 1:1 for $ played, or what ratio? Or does it depend on how much you play per cruise?

1 point for every $2.50 played

there are some who say comping starts at 10,000 points…and others who say it starts at an average of 1000 points per day.

Neither of those are true.

if you are talking about a dinner or spa those are up to the casino host. Comped cabins would start at around 5-6 on average for a 7/-10 day cruise

We just received this from the casino department affiliated with Princess on an upcoming cruise in regard to an offer:

Casino offers are sent solely at our discretion based on criteria that we do not disclose. We cannot disclose the criteria used for this offer. With regards to your offer, this is the best offer currently available based on your play. Again, these offers are based on the best possible offer we can make at a specific time. I can also confirm that the criteria has been thoroughly reviewed, and the offer that was made to you is the best offer you qualify for at this time. If you are not happy with this offer please know our casino promotions will be refreshed regularly to ensure we always give you a great reason to rebook a Princess cruise.

We have had friends and family who have lost thousands of dollars in Princess' casinos and the lost was way more than the offers they were given.   Casinos really only want to com players who have the potential for significant losses which benefit the casinos.  As they say in Las Vegas, if you are being comped in general you are losing.  Nothing is free in a casino!!

Did you question your offer? Just curious.

Three sentences are driving home the point it's the best offer. Last sentence speaks of not being happy.

Yea we have lost a few thousand on a cruise and sometimes break even but we always enjoy the casino. We still take the free balcony and upgrade to a suite. Since we love suites we also like that we can always get a 30% discount on most sailings

It is about how much money YOU RUN THROUGH THE MACHINE.

SO......put in $20.00, lose it in 5 minutes, no points

Put in $20.00 and play for an hour....lots of points.

There are some machines I feel I will never really win on but keep giving me play. I love those machines because they give me lots of points.

I think about an average of 1,000 points a day for a balcony or better cabin. If I do not play one day, I just play more the next.

It is very reasonable to upgrade. I have been given a mini suite & was able to upgrade to a suite for about $200.

The last day of the cruise, an offer will be delivered to your cabin. You will get lots of email offers later but usually none as good as that one.

If you feel you have played a lot and a casino host has not approached you by midweek, go introduce yourself & see if you have had enough play for a complementary specialty dining.

Just a note bounce back offers have gone down recently. We used to get up to $1,000 pp in free play now that is down to around $400 but still get a free balcony or inside. And yes always upgrade to a full suite preferably penthouse

I have sailed once with Princess and had over 12,000 points on a 7 day cruise and got a balcony with $600 free play. I lost about $5,000 in the casino. I booked my bounce back offer for a 12 day British Isles cruise for June, saving me $6,000 so I basically paid for this cruise in advance (I had this booked when I went on my first cruise but cancelled and rebooked with casino). About 2 months after my sailing I started getting core offers (free balcony with $600 free play) which you can use to book up to 3 cruises (only the first get free play). I have an Alaskan cruise booked in August (saved me $4500), a 16 day Hawaiian over x-mas (saved me $5000), a 7 day Eastern Caribbean Cruise for next June (saved me $3000), and a 7 day Western Caribbean for next December (saved me about $2500). Every time I book a cruise they give me another core offer but I maxed out on cruising for the next two years so I cannot book anymore cruises. I love cruising and gambling so this is the best of both worlds for me.
