At sea on the Sea

Greetings and ahoy from the Sea Princess.

It's a bit windy here today--also a bit chilly and overcast. We're all hoping for sunny and warm weather once we get into the Caribbean Sea.

Wimped out yesterday and didn't attempt to get onto Princess Cays. Those who did said the water was a bit cold for swimming, but the food was great (if you got there early).

We had our Meet and Greet yesterday afternoon--not a large attendance--but everyone there was certainly happy to be cruising!

Wish us sunny skies and smooth seas!

Thanks for posting...I look forward to your updates! We were on the Sea Princess in December (it was our favorite Princess Caribbean cruise to date), and booked it again for 2007 (as well as back to back Sun Princess cruises...still have to choose between them). I hope you have a wonderful cruise!

Thanks for posting live from the Sea! We will be boarding when you get back to Ft. Lauderdale and are interested to hear all about your cruise. Especially about the ports and what you did while on the islands.

What type of cabin do you have and how do you like it? We have a balcony on the Baha deck aft.

Have a wonderful time!

We have a balcony cabin on Riviera--just past the elevators and kind of noisy. The deck itself is quiet, but we hear a lot of door slamming--at least I think that's what it is.

Cabin is typical for this style ship--big enough for two if only one of you in moving....

Just sailed through a passing storm. So far, this has not been a good cruise for the sun lovers, but otherwise, it's been quite pleasant.

May your weather improve and your cruise be wonderful. We'll check back often for your updates, Thanks again.

While you're a board the Sea...will you go give Alan and Alana our regards...they were friends with our daughter, Stacy, (who married 3 weeks ago) when she worked for Princess and we became friends with them on the Royal...Thanks, Roy and Linda Steele

So glad to read the "few and far between" reviews of the Sea Princess. We're very excited about our upcoming Scandinavian cruise in July. Hoping we'll hear many more great things about this ship.....

HI, we just got off the Sea Princess on Sat, when you got on. We were sorry to leave. Had a great cruise. But as you mentioned a little choppy water now and then , but not bad at all. You will have a wonderful cruise. We loved it.

The Cruise Director JJ King is good, assistant CD Mark is a great guy also. We enjoyed the shows, enjoy your trip.

We've booked the Sea Princess for Jan., 2007, our first Princess cruise. It's always good to read about this ship, as there don't seem to be too many posts. I hope you'll give us a report on the ports you visit, too. Thanks.:)

We had an awesome cruise on the beatiful Sea Princess and hope you all meet as many nice people as we did. I am sure we have some life-long friends and hopefully will sail with each other again sometime. Our CC roll call from 2-25-2006 is still active, and we have posted lots of nice pictures on webshots if any of you would like to see them.

For future cruisers of the Sea Princess, you will love it!

We finally have a day of blue skies and warmer weather--now everybody is happy!

Roy: spoke to Alan last night and passed along your regards.

I took the Scenic Train excursion today on St. Kitts and I thought it was quite enjoyable. Lots of lovely views of the island--and a relaxing tour as well. Not suitable for those of you seeking adventure....but for us more laid back folks, it was ideal!

We had a minor problem with our "backing up engines" on Tuesday--caused a two-hour delay in docking. As you can imagine, there were some grumbly people who were quite put out at having to sit in the Princess Theater waiting for morning tours to begin, but...any day at sea is still better than a day at work, right?

*Computer keyboards are "awful" here in the Internet Cafe--sorry for typing errors!

Live from St Kitts where it is very clear and hot (what more coule we ask for?). About to leave the dock in about 35 minutes.

The Sea is is fine shape, and I am pleased to report that the food has been better than any other Princess ship we have been on (Platinum members). Island night last night was a blast and very well attended. We have booked the Sea for March 17th, 2007 so we have something to look forward to over the next winter.

Tomorrow were are going whale-watching for the day in St Lucia with 3 other couples from cruisecritic...going with Hackshaws who we happily used last year while on the Sun.

As previously posted the first couple of days were cool and cloudy...and with enough surf at Princess Cays that visibility for our snorkeling was not as good as we have had in the past and the rolls coming in prevented us from getting too close to the piles of rock...but we did still see some decent amounts of fish.

Embarkation in Lauderdale was a disaster.....even with "Platinum Check In", it still took 2.5 hours for us to get on board the ship....the Coast Guard decided to do an unscheduled inspection and no passengers were allowed to get on.....and the lounges just got more crowded and the lines longer as more people showed up. It was not a great way to start off.

But other than that, all I can say is good things. We have enjoyed the shows, the staff are fantastic......and, as I said above, the food is grand. We have been particularly impressed with the food in the HC, especially at dinner.

We are going to do Sterlings under the Stars next week and look forward to that.

OK...am off up to deck 14 to watch as we pull out of St Kitts.

Cheers,

marc

It's soo nice to hear the positive comments you two have about your Sea Princess cruise! My family is boarding her next week in Ft Lauderdale - I can't believe the time has almost come.

Have either of you visited the casino? I've heard comments that it was quite small & was just wondering what kind and what dominations of slot machines may be found....??

on other question.....is there just one dining room that serves Breakfast? we were going to try and have a cruise critic get together breakfast on our first sea day

Thanks for any and all information you have been providing! I hope you continue to have an enjoyable cruise....and stay safe!

Life IS BEST when your address floats!

You said you've booked on the Sea in Jan'07...what date.?? Hubby & I are booked on Jan 20 for Grand Caribbean Islander..14 days of Island-hopping. We've only been to 3 of the Islands, so looking forward to seeing the rest. Are we on the same cruise??....

Mom and I arrived for check-in around 12:30 or 1:00 pm and there was absolutely NO line. We were greeted at the door by wheelchair assistance; and within 20 minutes, we were in our cabin. Sometimes it pays to check in a bit later.

Kelly, we haven't been to the casino, so can't help you there. Only one dining room is open for breakfast. Hope you can work out something for your CC gathering.

My St Lucia tour got cancelled--I guess there was no interest in a walk in the rain forest--so Mom and I are staying on board today. Just enjoying the peace and quiet.

Yes, we are also booked on the Jan. 20th cruise. We've been to some of the islands, too, but there are many we'll be visiting for the first time. Longer cruises are wonderful and so hard to find, in the Caribbean. We're trying Princess, and the Sea, for the first time because of this itinerary.:)

Bobpatj...

We also booked because of the longer cruise and different Islands. We tried to book this one a couple of years ago when it left from Jackson(?) but hubby took ill and we had to cancel , so glad to see it again. We've only been to Antiqua,Barbados & Montego Bay, so the rest are all new. Trying to talk myself into booking that Rain Forest Aerial Tram in Dominica, but don't know if it will be too scarey !

Guess we should start a Roll Call for this date..altho it still seems like a long time to go...Lee

live from St Vincent.....and it is another fantastic day....warm, sunny....and still too much great food!

Did the "sunset cruise" in Barbados last night....and wonderful evening on the cat. with a gentle breeze, good company, tasty rum punch, loads of flying fish, a couple of sea turtles and we found ourselves in the middle of a school of feeding tuna, and that provided a fantastic sight as they leap out of the sea.

The previous day had our whale watch with Hackshaw Charters (booked privately with some cruisecritic friends) and saw literally hundreds of dolphins (4 different species) and whales. Chris Hackshaw provided the 8 of us with a 53ft boat and a crew of 3. A "class" outfit he runs, and a truly first-rate 6.5 hours we had with him including a swim/snorkel in a remote bay and huge lunch at "JJ's" in Marginot Bay. Will likely be the highlight of our trip, as it was last year on the Sun.

Tomorrow is Trinidad and we look forward to our rainforest walk at the Asa Wright Center.

We have absolutely nothing to complain about. What more can I say?

cheers

Marc, thanks so much for posting live and letting us know what a wonderful time you are having on the Sea!

We board her when you get back to Ft. Lauderdale this coming Saturday and just can't wait!

Hope the rest of your cruise is great!

I did the photo tour with professional photographer Ronnie Carrington on Barbados. What a wonderful way to see this beautiful island. There were only 12 of us on this tour. We made about 8 or 10 photo stops--great views and helpful hints from Ronnie--so we all got some great shots.

Got an aromatherapy massage yesterday--how relaxing!

Did the City Tour with Cultural Show in Port of Spain. Big city, lots of traffic, but the show was well worth seeing. Great costumes and the limbo dancer was amazing.

Ok--trivia games to play and formal night dinner to attend.

I'm certainly enjoying this cruise, and I hope future cruisers will feel the same.

yup, formal night tonight, and for all of those who have been wondering/debating, the menu tonight includes "cold water lobster tails".

did the "Ava Wright rain forest walk" this morning...a 1.5 hour bus ride each way up to 2000ft asl....lots of birds, great forest, a boa constrictor and assorting other jungle stuff.

just off the coast of South America...can see it out the window as I type this.

tomorrow, we snorkel on Kleine Island/Bonaire (another place to check off from my "1000 places to see before you die" list, as was Asa Wright).

Ate last night with some folks from the UK who have also booked the March 17th, 2007 Sea with us. They celebated their 40th last night, and we will have the honour of celebrating their 41st with them next year.

Still lots of things we had planned to do aboard ship and still have not gotten around to doing them......we just keep trying!

cheers

marc
