How did we manage that?

You've heard of the Tooth Fairy and her band of fellow fairies [we have her best friend, Fridge Fairy], well you've just come across Window Fairy! 😁

Enjoy and can I suggest once you get to the Fjords, have a camera or phone with you at all times, including meals [although I can forgo any food photos, thx]  because guaranteed, when you don't have it with you is when you want to photograph something.

That's how I caught a water spout on camera last year when in the Baltic!

Congrautlations on the good table! The window tables are lovely. I don't take my camera to meals, but I do take my phone if I have a table with a view. (And go ahead and take food porn pix if you want to)

Friends who cruise with us say that their son-in-law is the "window whisperer" because they always get a table by the window in Britannia when he sails with them--and he's the newest addition to the group, so he hadn't "earned" it.

Service in PG on QA was very good. Our table tried just about every flambe option. It isn't on the menu, but you can request crepes suzette.

Always have camera as have phone… which is rarely used as a phone.

PG restaurant very well staffed (by the way no money changed hands…maybe a combination of being silver - many red presumably, Cunard fare,  P1 not P2 and OH being a Dr… and pure luck)

PG Prosecco is very nice. Going down well…

Off for a tour soon. Shame QM2 is leaving before us from a downstream berth so we won’t pass her.

Just notIced… QA Captain is David Hudson. What happened to Inger Thorhauge? I guess they have holidays!

I have been told just because the Captain isn't on the ship doesn't mean they are on holiday.

Bear in mind Captain Thorhauge will have been 'at the helm' for more than the previous three cruises.

They share the Captaincy of Queen Anne.

They usually do 3 months on 3 months off but she will have started her contract whilst QA was still in the ship yard. I think several other senior personnel have also swopped with their opposite number now too.

Overheard some of our “cousins” at the next window table at dinner thinking the Solent was the English Channel (forgivable) which meant they thought the Isle of Wight was France…

Such efficient service in PG. Almost too efficient. Never seen so many staff…

I remember being on the Isle of Wight ferry once crossing back to Southampton as several ships were leaving.  Couple  next to me were talking to another couple next to them and telling them the nearest ship  was Britannia and were giving it large. Given my son in law and daughter were onboard Britannia in the Caribbean at the time it did make me laugh to myself.

That’s an easier mistake to make (given the Union flags on their bows) than thinking the IoW is France. We do the ferry often for OH’s parents so are a little more familiar with the area than many. Not sure half the couple agreed with the France statement but (unfortunately?) kept quiet to avoid an argument.

It’s a bit rough in the North Sea today.

I don't dispute their practicality, just their appearance. I used them for years in my student dining rooms for that very reason, and even they used to refer to them as 'prison mugs', so seeing them on the QG terrace made me chuckle😁

I can picture Mrs Bouquet, drinking her Earl Grey from a QG china cup and balancing the saucer very carefully, little finger in the air and looking down on us plebs who love a stoneware mug of breakfast tea around 3pm on deck 10 or 11, depending on the ship! 😄

Except it was spelt Hyacinth Bucket …

They went on the QE2 in one episode.

I am aware of both but some of our non UK friends might not be although PBS does a great job with UK comedy.

LOL --- I think many of us know Keeping up Appearances and Hyacinth Bucke's  "Royal Doulton with the hand painted periwinkles"?

On QA Grills Terrace. So much room. Given that the footprint is the same as Grills restaurants and lounge there must be a chair or lounger for every Grills passenger.

Don’t miss out on cream teas either.

Does that button actually work??????? Didn't have that on the Around Britain cruise.
