This is similar to a drink called Nuts and Berries. I will suggest trying a Baileys Alexander, more on the chocolate side. As well as a Liquid Snickers. Enjoy!

I can tell we are close to land because the kittiwakes and the icebergs are now prolific ... And, they could've sail straight toward Nuuk this morning and had you all ashore for lunch. But you would missed all the calories enrichment onboard. Here's her tracking history. 3

I will make up for the lost hours on this cruise next summer when I do a transatlantic going the other way! The food alone is putting ncl to shame! Nee Nee and Biddy Posted July 14 #735 Share Posted July 14 I'm really enjoying your review! It's nice to see Princess through new eyes; it helps me remember why we love it so much. My favorite drink at Crooners is the Baked Alaska on the rocks. Maybe you will get a chance to try it before your trip ends! Looking forward to hearing all about your Greenland adventures.

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 14 Author #739 Share Posted July 14 Don’t you love the part of cruising where you put a piece of paper on the door handle at night and the next morning delicious eggs are delivered to your door? I didn’t sleep well last night, not because anything was wrong but because I was bursting with excitement. This morning when breakfast was delivered I ate quickly, bundled up and headed outside for the shuttle into town. As I walked down the gangway and stepped onto the dock I was overwhelmed with the realization that I was here in Greenland. Looking back at my photos from today, I laughed to see the first photo of Greenland was this 13

That does not sound good. It has been very very hot all along the West Coast with lots of wildfires burning. Very hard to breathe even for me. Rare YVRteacher Posted July 14 Author #741 Share Posted July 14 The shuttle drop off is near the tourist information building but I had listened to the enrichment talk about Nuuk and had glanced at a map so felt informed enough. I set out to wander. After 3 sea days my legs needed a long walk and there is nothing better than exploring a town with no agenda so I set out in the opposite direction from where most other people were walking. None of these stores were open today. In Reykjavik, all the shops and homes are heated by geothermal systems so doors are left open to let heat out. You can always tell when a store is open because the door will be ajar. In Nuuk all the doors were closed and most had no signs. The only way to tell if something was a store and if it was open was to approach the door and peer inside. After today all the shops of Nuuk, like my cabin window, have my nose prints all over them. I know Newfoundland is affectionally known as “the rock” and Greenland should be too. It’s all rock. It’s just a great big rock with some soil on top. Houses are built where people decided to build them and nothing is levelled.

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 14 Author #744 Share Posted July 14 I walked all through this neighbourhood, loving the colourful houses with glass-walled porches and windows facing the sea. This place has a sauna Many homes had snow shovels on porches.

hpeabody Posted July 14 #746 Share Posted July 14 (edited) I am loving your "Live" review. It seems you are having a great time and enjoying the Island Princess. I spent over 4 months on her for the 2023 World Cruise. I will be on a sister ship, the Caribbean Princess cruising Iceland and Greenland the first week of August. What do you recommending for dressing for what I expect will likely be cold and damp. Have you been warm enough outdoors? I live in Southern California and not a good cold and wet weather person I admit. Edited July 14 by hpeabody
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 14 Author #747 Share Posted July 14 It is due to sentences like this next one that I will never be a mystery writer: I had an absolutely amazing, joyful and awe-inspiring day in Nuuk! I walked for 5 hours in the morning and early afternoon, came back to the ship for a bowl of delicious soup then headed out for an afternoon excursion which was, simply put, incredible. I will continue the posts about Nuuk tomorrow. There are waterfalls, whales and icebergs to come. For now, I’m heading to bed. It is almost 11pm and I’m a wee bit bit tired.
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted July 14 #748 Share Posted July 14 For your information (after the fact): Aside from making the town/settlement more attractive, these colors were practical – serving to indicate the function of the building: Red = commercial houses, churches, government buildings Yellow = hospitals, health services Green = telecommunications Blue = fish factories Black = police station

I had put on so many layers of clothes that there was hardly anything left hanging in the closet. I’ll talk more about what I wore and what I should have packed tomorrow. For now, I’ll let you know that I have been back on the Island Princess for 5 hours and I am still shivering after the day in Greenland. Yes, I had more soup and yes I had a hot shower.
