Rare YVRteacher Posted July 22 Author #1127 Share Posted July 22 Time for more fun! This is not a Viking picnic table. What do you think it is? Hint: the designer won an award.

Norwegianprincess Posted July 23 #1131 Share Posted July 23 Such a lovely «coo» (pronounced excactly as the norwegian word for cow, «ku») «Bostadh» is a norse name/word, meaning something like «a place were you live» I need to visit the Outer Hebrides! Thanks for beautiful photos!

It’s a bus shelter. Since there are four different sections, you’d be sheltered no matter which way the wind is blowing.
happy42cruise Posted July 23 #1133 Share Posted July 23 I realize you might not be able to find any on the ship or any of the small villages you are touring but I've started using those silicone ear plugs & they work wonders for blocking out all kinds of noise! I can still hear my phone alarm (usually) but all the other noises get blocked & I can sleep. I get them on Amazon but major drug stores have them here in the US. I hope you can find something to drowned out the snoring.
MsSoCalCruiser Posted July 23 #1134 Share Posted July 23 I have another if you feel like it and you have time question… If so, would you please check OceanNow and see if the option to leave the cheese off of the chef salad has been added yet? Please and thank you. I’m hoping that option will be added to the chef salad and sandwiches too.

Part of our shore excursion description said we were going to stop in a local village. As mentioned, there is no local village. The bus driver randomly pulled over onto someone’s front lawn and the tour guide said “we are scheduled to stop here for 15 minutes.” Another passenger and I looked at each other and ran up the hill we had just driven down. I stopped to take a photo of a sheep taking its rock holding down job very seriously and kept running uphill to see this!!!!!!!!! As you can clearly tell, he was just as excited to “see” me as I was to see him. Him? Her? Since you asked...the Highland cow in the first photo is a male. The others are all female. Note the shape of the horns. That's the tell if you can't see the underside dangly thing on the boys. 4 1

It is not for the four seasons but to protect people from wind that whips up from all directions. The designer won the award for functionality, not aesthetics. 30 years ago most residents did not have cars so relied heavily upon the bus system. Now almost everyone owns a car so the bus system is not as prolific. 6

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1139 Share Posted July 23 When our tour bus arrived back to the deep water port I ran to catch the shuttle bus into the town of Stornoway. I knew I would only have 12 minutes but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to see the town. Just as I was boarding the double decker shuttle (our tour guide was laughing with our bus driver saying he never thought he would see the day when a double decker bus was needed in the Hebrides) a woman came running off the ship asking for someone to go to a shop in Stornoway to pick up her sweater she left behind. I said I could do it. The shuttle operations guy, Nigel, phoned the shop and asked them to have it ready. When we arrived in town after driving through what looked like the enchanted forest, I ran to the shop called HS1. Someone had taken the sweater to the bus stop. I jogged back to the bus stop and no one had the sweater. At this point I had 9 minutes to absorb all I could of Stornoway. Priority #1 whiskey store Priority #2 everything else I did not have any time to explore and I missed the castle. These upcoming photos were all taken from the upper deck of the double decker bus.
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1140 Share Posted July 23 Our all aboard time was 5:30pm and I arrived back at the port at 5:30pm. A couple debarked the bus and pulled a sweater out of their bag. The shop had delivered it to a random couple and no one was able to communicate this with me. I took the sweater, boarded the ship and delivered the black cotton garment to the very happy owner in her cabin on the Promenade deck. Of course Happy Hour was needed! I kicked back two Captain’s Bounties quicker than you can say yum. No photos were taken. Sailaway The cloud cover emerged as we left Stornoway. Captain Marco came on the PA to announce that today was Princess’ first time EVER in Stornoway. What a terrific port!

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1142 Share Posted July 23 At 6:30om I decided to have a small ice cream cone. I haven’t had anything from Swirls this whole trip, not even one of those two per day free ice cream extravaganzas. As soon as I stepped up to the counter the safety officer announced there was a large pod of dolphins off the port side. Ice cream scooper lady and I looked at each other, said let’s go and headed across the deck. The dolphins were plentiful but not demonstrative. There were no leaps or flips. Just black spots in the ocean. We stayed and watched dolphins for a while and ice cream scooper lady said the ice cream bar was now self serve.😂 When the unremarkable dolphin show ended I went back to Swirls and ordered a small vanilla soft serve. Ice cream scooper lady said they only had chocolate. I asked what kind of hard ice cream she had and she only had chocolate. I said I would try again another day. What I want to know is how a ship filled with old people used up all the ice cream.
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1143 Share Posted July 23 I did enjoy the evening show in the theatre, mostly because the magician was funny. I had seen every one of his tricks before. For this 21 day cruise every guest entertainer has been a man. Do better, Princess, and diversify the entertainment you bring on board. Comedian Ken Boyd had an evening show in Explorers Lounge. I have taken quite a liking to him and don’t want to miss a chance to see him again. This drink? This is a 24K Margarita and I had to use two hands. 9
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1144 Share Posted July 23 You know you’re having a great cruise when the last photo you took before bed and the first photo you took the next morning (which means today) involves drinks at Good Spirits
Rare azbirdmom Posted July 23 #1145 Share Posted July 23 If you haven't had one yet I can recommend a Mermaid Mimosa. Delicious and very pretty too! Had one last week after seeing one being made while I was standing in the coffee line on the Discovery Princess.

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1149 Share Posted July 23 Mermaid mimosa contains peach schnapps. I do not do peach schnapps due to an unfortunate evening of overindulging in university. I had another lychee martini instead. Princess just on-boarded new drinks.
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 23 Author #1150 Share Posted July 23 The library on the Island Princess is now immaculate. I spent hours today shelf reading and organizing. Mess it up at your own peril. 16 1
