Now I am wondering if tonight’s production show is audience participation and if I should take my own bubbles.

Last night the woman next to me assumed On The Bayou was a singalong. I had to plug my right ear.

@YVRteacher love the de -raisining of your scone. I do the same. I don’t like raisins either. And I definitely won’t touch an oatmeal raisin cookie ,but for some reason the scone I will eat and I will do exactly what you do ,pile up those things.

Liking all your drinks.

that's just sad - but maybe not as sad as Island no longer having the Universe Lounge for OTB ...

The bubble show was a magic show with interludes of bubbles. Fumbling happened and the show was more fluff than fabulous. The two performers are from Italy.

Perhaps “Bubbles 10th Birthday Party” would be more apt than “Bubbles Revolution.”

For their big finale, they set up a flashlight and did hand shadow puppets. The man next to me pulled out his phone and watched a boxing match.

You know you have poor quality entertainment when the performer has to beg the audience to clap.

Do better, Princess.

Here’s a walk through of some of the items available in the Horizon Court tonight. The theme is Spanish cuisine.

Roasted pumpkin.

I just ate roasted pumpkin.

I have never had roasted pumpkin before.

Where did you get the roasted pumpkin?  Was it part of an MDR dinner?  Vegetarian menu?  Of buffet?   I love pumpkin so wondering where to keep an eye open for it (assuming like other lines, Princess has common menus across their ships).

Yum.  The buffet spread looked tasty.  Especially the paella (of which I know you can’t comment).  Have you found enough variety for a vegetarian?  Do you find it is much easier to dine in buffet vs MDR?

The variety is terrific and the food is exactly what I love to eat (lentils, chick peas, beans, tofu and veggies.)  The MDR has vegetarian options for each meal and there is a vegan menu that changes daily. The food is so fresh and is beautifully plated/presented. Both the buffet and the MDR work for me. I had a specialty casual lunch yesterday and appreciated the vegetarian options as well.

And, food-wise, I’m excited to try Princess again.  Unfortunately not until 4/25…a California coast including Ensenada.  Hey…maybe you could do that one ??

Edit..ignore the posts about Bubbles.  Lol…I was going to comment just how appropriate a show about Bubbles was sooo YOU.  But then I got side-tracked 😕

Desserts in Horizon Court tonight

I’ll take some better dessert photos tomorrow. In addition to the plated desserts that are in the refrigerated section there are always hot options. So far I’ve seen blueberry cobbler, rice pudding, peach cobbler, apple pie and macadamia brownies. The big pans of fresh from the oven brownies are delectable! The middle is slightly gooey and the top is slightly crisp. A bowl of vanilla sauce accompanies the brownies. Ok, I admit it. I had a brownie for breakfast today.

It is simply refreshing to see these varieties and how it is presented, appealing to the sense (taste, etc. etc. can be very subjective & easily influenced by our own biases & preference.  Showing some of the photos to DW & leaving her speechless, just "wow" - easily put NCL to shame, I know it's like comparing apples to oranges and tangerines.  Changes are good, open our eyes & senses to what is available and offered out there ... stepping beyond our own comfort zones.   And, those variety pizza selections ... I'm at a loss for words.

Thank you for taking extra, extra time to post and write about it all.   About those time zone changes, you do know, right, that there are more to come as the ship continue to sail east.

A few additional notes from today:

*the Destination: Greenland enrichment presentation today was absolutely excellent

*the official count from the Island Princess for our Guinness World Record attempt was 455

*the Island Princess was christened in Vancouver by Jamie Salé and David Pelletier

*I found the entrance to the fitness center today.

The food is definitely “wow” and is prepared with care and skill.

I will make up for the lost hours on this cruise next summer when I do a transatlantic going the other way!

Fitness Center.  Got this!  Physical or Intellectual?  Brawn or Brain?   Or, just clever?  Yeah…me and you, both.

Dear Teacher:  I see you have tried a few libations.  Which one is your favorite thus far?

That is a hard question! I am still conducting research. I love the espresso martini, the 24K margarita, the sparkly black one (Midnight in Oslo? Moonlight over Oslo? What is it???) and Captain’s Bounty. The dark and stormy was also excellent and so pretty.

I already know that the drink I am going to miss the most when I sadly have to disembark will be the Honey Lavender Latte.

Have you tried any of these and what is your favourite drink?

I am more worried about the arts and crafts sessions and the expletives that will no doubt be uttered.

You may be disappointed to find out that my definition of late night partying means going to the buffet at 9pm for mashed potatoes.  I don’t even own a party dress!

Ha! You’ve obviously never cruised with me! I close that ship down!

It is 12:45am and for the first time I can feel the ship’s motion. My cabin is as far forward as one can go so I may be feeling the movement more due to location.  I haven’t needed any seasick medication but just took a tablet to be preventative. Once I get seasick it’s hard to get “unsick.” People often ask why I cruise when I get so seasick and my response is that I manage it. The first cruise I took I was seasick while we were still docked before departure! Now I wear acupressure wrist bands 24/7, I avoid fried food, I eat small meals and medicate when needed.
