Improve the Wine Selection on the Basic and Premium Drink Packages

Recommended Posts

The wines that Celebrity offers under the basic and premium drink packages are sub par.  Most of the wines on the premium drink package can be purchased in grocery stores and the price of a bottle is very close to what Celebrity charges for a glass.

In November a number of wines that long time Celebrity Cruisers Enjoyed were moved from the Premium Drink Package to an "Enhanced" list and are now priced above the price covered by the Premium Drink Package. I know that the Decoy was moved back in price and is covered now but others were not.

My question:  What is Celebrity doing to bring quality wines into alignment within the drink packages?

To bring quality wines into alignment with our current drink packages, we’ve recently created an internal wine division (a first for Celebrity!) to specifically focus on our overall wine selection with an emphasis on bringing value back to the packages and you, our guests. Our new wine division team is constantly traveling to new destinations to discover and include more quality wines, keeping our guest preferences at the forefront. As we introduce more of these options to the fleet, we can’t wait for you all to take your first sip! In fact, we have added so many new wines to the packages that you need to book and join us to try them. I look forward to hearing what you think.

That sounds great. A renewed commitment to offering quality wine service is welcome news. This is an area that Celebrity has always distinguished itself from other cruise lines and one of the reasons that I prefer to sail with you. Also, how do I get a job in your Wine Division? That sounds like a great job! 😄

I look forward to seeing what new offerings there are on our April 2025 cruise.

When will you be bringing Box wines into the premium mix?  Is Kendall Jackson truly what your wine specialists consider a premium wine when it sells for $10 a bottle?  Same with most of the wine selections.  Nothing offered that sells for more than $30 a bottle which Celebrity, in turn, sells for $17 for a 4 oz glass. Ridiculous. Solve the problem and please stop with the lip service.

I vote for more wines from Lodi.  I’m so tired of drinking French Bordeaux and Italian Barolo.  If Celebrity serves expensive wines, you know the $20 stuff, then I get spoiled when I get home.

And they offered Caymus by the glass on Beyond last week. $40 glass or $225 bottle. Hard pass. Poor wine selections onboard IMHO. Kendall Jackson in particular. Laughable.

Caymus is up to $40 a glass now?  It must be really good……….  😳

Caymus is delicious but not $40 a glass delicious. I'd drink Conundrum or Decoy instead.

I keep trying Decoy but I just don't like it. Very disappointed in the price of Caymus.

Try the better Duckhorn if you get a chance either on the ship if available or at home.

Celebrity is a hot mess when it comes to wines by the glass.  Very few good Cabs on board.  Sometimes they are not available...  It would be an upgrade if they purchased regional wines for their ships.  For example,  why am I drinking Cailfornia Cabs in Asia when I should be drinking Australian Shiraz.  At quite a few of the bars the higher end Cabs by the glass are not available.

Or a really good profit for Celebrity.  We had Caymus on our last cruise but $40 is past the breaking point.  Of course I might bring a bottle of Caymus onboard...

Well if Celebrity will refuse to serve me wine from Lodi, CA then I have no choice but to bring wine from North Carolina.  (Yes we make wine.)
