When was your first cruise on Carnival?

Recommended Posts

Carnival Spirit, January 2011.  Had to look at the picture of hubby & myself that we have on a bookshelf.  Picture of us in Cabo San Lucas at a beach bar on Medano Beach.  Very first cruise December 2009, our 25th wedding anniversary.  After that cruise on RCL Mariner of the Seas out of San Pedro, we were hooked!

My first cruise was on the Carnival Pride in 2005 from Long Beach to the Mexican riviera.  Not to date myself but there was fruit punch dispensed from the machines in addition to the lemonade and iced tea.  Oh yea and there was a top optional funnel deck and a grand midnight buffet.

My first Carnival cruise was in 2009.  My sister received a free interior cabin from her job.  (I had only cruised on NCL and Royal in my 20’s in my single days. )

I remember sitting in the Carnival MDR and I saw BEER BOTTLES on the tables around me.  Beer bottles!   On the tables!  The horror!

Then I received my shrimp cocktail. I picked one up and it bent over sideways, going limp.  And was tiny.  😳.

I’ve learned to accept Carnival for what it is.

I’m Diamond now 🙂.

Cruising since 1992 but first Carnival was on Splendor out of NYC, Feb 13,2014 in a snowstorm.

Went on a dare as I was told I'd hate Carnival. Glad I decided to see for myself.

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Imagination, November-December 2015.

My girlfriend (now my wife) and I went on the now-familiar Catalina-Ensenada run right after Thanksgiving. My avatar photo was taken after one of the shows when the cast posed with audience members (I don't think they they do that anymore).

Cruise Director Goose invited all the kids (maybe a couple dozen or so) on stage during the Christmas program for a reading of Frosty the Snowman, changing the ending so Frosty ends up at the North Pole drinking cider with Santa and the Abominable Snowman ("because I'm the one telling this story, and *I* like happy endings.").

This September will be our 16th cruise.

My first cruise was in 1981 on an NCL ship...back then 750 passengers was the norm!  Over 100 cruises on RCCL, Royal Viking, Royal, Crystal and Celebrity, my first Carnival cruise was in 2016.

First cruise was Carnival Holiday in July 1985 out of Miami.  It was the second cruise for the Holiday; not the inaugural the week before.

Tropicale in January 2001. Second last cruise before it was transferred to Costa. Had done Princess and HAL previously. Wasn't really impressed with the ship and thus, the line either, but we gave Carnival another shot later that year when my wife got pregnant and we decided to take one last cruise before kids. Sailed the Victory in Sept 2001, 4 days after 9-11. We were supposed to sail from New York, but sailed from Boston instead. Had 750 on the cruise, so it was a very strange experience. The ship won us over though and we have sailed Carnival a couple more times, with another coming up in 7 weeks. We've also added Princess and Royal Caribbean into the mix. Love the variety and differences in each line and don't cruise enough to be concerned with chasing a higher tier status with any particular line.

The Holiday in Aug 1999. That was a 4 day to Catalina and Ensenada. That was 25 cruises ago!

I did the Holiday to Catalina and Ensenada right about the same time. Was fun, as a teen we’d drive to Ensenada often but never took the ferry over to Catalina. Grew up so close to the so ca beaches. Finally got to see it up close.

Carnival Victory 2003 - "7 day Western Caribbean Cruise"  I will never forget it as long as I live. I remember standing on the Aft part of the ship. It was the 1st time I had ever seen a large body of water/ocean. I felt so humbled & really small in the whole big scheme of things/life.

That's when I became a "Cruise addict for Life!! ❤️
