SeaBunny Posted August 12 #1 Share Posted August 12 I'm trying to identify excursions that leave from the port. Are there any companies that do this? Viator doesn't list the port as a pick up place which surprised me. Suggestions?
mets123 Posted August 12 #2 Share Posted August 12 There had two pickups a few years ago that were about a half mile away. One was by that famous hotel whose name escapes me now.
marys350 Posted August 24 #3 Share Posted August 24 (edited) We took the Taste Trail on the Island of Orleans tour through Quebec Bus Tour company last September. Pick up and drop off was at a bus stop at Le Chateau Frontenac Hotel. They offer a number of tours. Our email confirmation ticket listed the address of the pickup location. We took a taxi from the port to the bus stop. After the tour, we rode the funicular and walked back to the port. https://quebecbustour.com/home/ Edited August 24 by marys350

Also keep in mind that Viator isn't an actual tour company-- its an aggregator like Expedia is for flights and hotels. Most of the time you can get a better deal and more flexibility dealing with the tour companies directly rather than booking through Viator. Can you please share more about it? We also booked a tour of Chateau Frontenac. Just saw a romcom on Prime that featured that hotel and likely L'Ile Orleans: French Girl. Great scenes of Quebec! And a cute movie.

The tour description and short video on the booking page gives an accurate description and feel for the tour. There are also many photos on Tripadvisor reviews. We had visited Quebec City before on a land trip so we wanted to get out to the countryside and see the Island of Orleans. We enjoyed this minibus tour, which was well paced and relaxing. We had small tastings of chocolate, nougat, wine, cider, and strawberries and the opportunity to buy local products at the establishments we visited. The tour price was very reasonable compared to ship tours. Edited August 25 by marys350
TMLAalum Posted August 25 #7 Share Posted August 25 @marys350 Thanks. We also had been to Quebec and environs on a land trip but not to the island. Looking forward to the tour.
unclerich Posted August 31 #8 Share Posted August 31 We can very highly recommend https://quebeclimoservice.com/ We used Etienne's services for a private 4 hr tour of Quebec and environs. It was fabulous! We also used him for our airport to hotel transfer on arrival to Quebec. We are very pleased.
latebuyer Posted September 4 #9 Share Posted September 4 TMLAalum, may i ask if you’ve been to montmorency falls and st. Ann beupre? I’ve been debating between the two excursions.
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted September 4 #10 Share Posted September 4 We just did Montmorency Falls on our own. We Ubered both ways: from Gare du Palais to the falls it was $15ca + tax and the return to the Visitor Center was ~ 25. We arrived as they were opening at 9:00, and were able to show our tickets to get into the parking lot. The pick up driver had no problem getting in to pick us up. There sss s lovely restaurant at the top that opens at noon.
latebuyer Posted September 4 #11 Share Posted September 4 Thank you! Did you take the cable car up or did you walk up the steps? I read there is 400 steps which seems like a lot.

You can get your tickets online and skip the local line.

TMLAalum Posted September 9 #15 Share Posted September 9 Just want to report back about our tour with Quebec Bus Tours, Taste Trail on Ile L'Orleans. It was a great tour with the first stop being the Chocolaterie. There was a Celebrity tour bus there at the same time as our 24 passenger bus arrived. All I could think was those 40 people probably paid twice what we did for the same experience. Our other stops included a cidery, nougat candy maker and winery- samples included on all four. There were only English speakers on our bus so our guide Celine didn't have to address the group in French.
SuzCruise Posted Saturday at 10:53 PM #16 Share Posted Saturday at 10:53 PM Quebec is also a very walkable city with lots of lovely sites available in Old Town and nearby if you want to DIY instead. And there are some phenomenal restaurants right in old town.
