Anyone know what the barge is building next to the Joy right now? Looks like pieces of a walkway on the webcam.

Looks like they are temporarily removing the walkways in anticipation of the hurricane.

This must be a bad one coming.  I'd bet the two ships there now will be leaving a little earlier than planned.

A category 2 I think is predicted. I hear that they are leaving a day early. One ship for sure arrived a either a half day or a day early in anticipation of leaving early.

Norwegian Joy already departed Bermuda, a day earlier than scheduled. Carnival Pride is still there, but there's not a single taxi or mini bus at Dockyard waiting for passengers so I suspect that ship will be departing today, also a day earlier than scheduled.

Both the Joy & Pride were originally scheduled to be in Bermuda Wed-Fri August 14-16.  They both arrived a day early on Tuesday the 13th and left Thursday the 15th.  So they got the same number of days in port, just everything was a day early.

Which makes me wonder what their itineraries are that allowed them to get there a day early.

When sailing from the New York area it does not take two days to get to Bermuda. So for a seven day cruise they go slow. Seven days is more popular than six plus the regular port calls can leave the same day every week. Also since there are only two berths at the Dockyard and some leave on Saturday and others on Sunday it allows for more port calls a week to have the extra day a sea.

Was curious since we are doing the 7 day Bermuda from New York in a couple weeks. We sail on Saturday and are in Bermuda Monday to Wednesday, with 2 sea days coming back.

I’ve done several NYC to Bermuda cruises, leaving NY on Sunday and returning the next Sunday.  On all of those we arrived in Bermuda on Wednesday and left on Friday.  So, Sun-Wed morning to get there and Fri afternoon - Sun morning returning.  These ships just did the opposite, getting there sooner and taking their time going back.

The casino can be open in the evening while docked in Bermuda if the ship gets a license. It will be open in the evening on NCL. Usually they open at 9:00 PM but check your ship activity sheet for the hours.
