Casino question

I find the easiest game at the casino is Blackjack.  All the cards have their number value, aces are one or eleven (your choice) and pictures, ten.  You just have to get up to 21 without going over and get closer to 21 than the dealer.  Watch a few games and then only risk up to $30 two nights and see how long it lasts or can you build up a cache of chips. Everybody is against the dealer and you are not playing against the other passengers.

Although everyone is playing against the dealer, your play impacts the cards other players get (or don't).   If you don't follow basic strategy and misplay because you're new and clueless, and this cause other players to lose or the dealer to win, you will provoke the ire of other players.

For example if you don't know what you're doing and hit on a hard 20 and bust because you were dealt a face card, the player behind you with a hard 11 will not be happy that you busted with the face card they needed to get 21.

Anyone who doesn't have gambling experience or someone there to help them and/or hasn't done research on basic strategy should probably stick to slots or roulette.

You do get a type of player that says "You took my card" and are disgruntled because later they go bust immediately and feel it is your fault. The reality of the situation is that no card is destined to be theirs. I have never experienced much of  this type of behaviour and strangely if someone plays badly for example having nineteen and getting another card hoping for a two or ace and they go bust following by a subsequent player that does well they never say "Thank you" for taking the bad card and leaving me with the exact card I need for twenty one. If you want to have little impact sit in the last seat. I never worry about this sort of player and often the others call that guy out.

I once split 10's (I think dealer card showing was a 6).  Boy did I get yelled at from fellow players.  After the split, both cards I were dealt were Aces ( 21 twice).  I told everyone that got mad, "see it worked out this time".  Everyone else busted ( only 3 other players) but BlackJack is not a communal sport.  It's the strongest survives.  It's called Gambling for a reason.

Please, never show up at my table. It's your prerogative to play like that, but I'll be gone after seeing it...and your bankroll will suffer over the long term.😗

Despite what you say, to keep a rhythm and a winning vibe/fun at table, yes, blackjack at a casino is a indeed a communal sport.  Play basic strategy, alter your bets as appropriate....and worst of all, don't hem and haw and sit there thinking what you want to do on any given hand (geez, it not based on hunches people!), and everyone gets along fine....

Its easy for "Players" to spot the newbies in the casino... if you are one of them?

Kindly play or setup your accounts, at the Least busy times to LEARN or ask questions.

Most Players don't have time or patience for that.

Machines onboard are very limited, and you may be playing one coin, while others are hovering waiting for you to leave cuz they bet Max.

We know what were doing and trying to earn our points in limited amount of time.

Not judging, but the casino onboard is similar to casinos on land.... but the Land Casino is much bigger and you will have plenty of space to learn How to play.

As far as setting up your account?  Least busy times is appreciated.  😬

It's your money. Enjoy. I couldn't care less if everyone else at the table busts and I don't look to see if they do. They aren't going to reimburse me if I bust playing how they think I should.

There are high dollar tables others can play to help avoid newbies.

If anyone plays long enough, they will lose to the casino. Dumb luck is a strategy that can pay as well as anything, if not better, short term.

One time in Reno a dealer thought I must be  cheating but couldn't see how, didn't say anything until I got up to leave. She was wrong

If I am playing a machine and people are hovering around trying to intimidate me I will sit there all night slow playing minimum bets. I pay for my cabins.

It should be thought of as communal- all players vs the dealer.

In the example you gave, splitting 10's against a dealer 6, just stand and let the dealer bust.

With a pat hand (20) you are always better off standing. You will only lose if dealer gets to 21.

I know how BlackJack plays.  Here is the reason I did that.  Dealer had 6 showing,  most likely they will bust on the next draw card anyway).  I have 2 tens.  Split, I have a better chance to get closer to sixteen or above on two occasions ( If I drew a 5 or below, I would have stayed anyway).  Sometimes it works , sometimes it docent.  Have stayed before on 20, and dealer has 16...they draw a 5.  Talk about heart ache.  This way, at least I gave it a fighting chance.  Like I said,  Don't care about the other players.

It seems very arrogant of people to tell others how they should play hands.  I feel if I told them how I thought they should play, they would be a little upset.  You have to remember everybody is paying to play and it is not about making money as the house always has the edge. People play for amusement and if one is getting wound up you should probably leave the table.

If it were all about money gambling on a cruise ship is not a good choice. You have to pay up front for two people to sail and then when you get to the table others will be playing in a way that bizarre, confuses you and goes right over your head in terms of, why

When nutty or uncomfortable play occurs from others, I respectfully color-out and leave.  It's kind of tough on a ship with limited tables, but that's the tried and true game plan when cruising or at any table.

If you are concerned about other players affecting your cards you just need to sit in the seat which the dealer deals cards to first.  It is a lot more sensible than leaving in response.

I live in Vegas and I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.  We had a young couple sit down at the black jack table last weekend.  The vibe was all WRONG and they made REALLY bad decisions and shut down a great table's action.  Myself and another player left the table.  The couple followed about 30 minutes later and we immediately colored up and moved again. (easier to do in Vegas than a cruise ship casino) the couple finally asked if it was them and we told them yes.  When they stayed at the third table we left for the night.  Some people have no table etiquette and sometimes your gut just says get up and go it isn't the night.

I prefer first seat for that reason.  I can make my stupid decisions before everyone else but sometimes the players after you are making REALLY bad choices that no one on the table even the dealer is recommending or worse they don't know how to play.  Leaving is sometimes the least expensive option.  Not every night is a banner night of play.

Yours is a valid point, but more so on the rhythm/myth of the deal in 3-card poker, less BJ.

I'm assuming you would agree that a multi-deck shoe in BJ renders any single person's decisions rather moot.

My peeve, as mentioned above, is the over-thinker player who stops the natural pace of the game while pondering best how to blow-it and not just play basic strategy.  Drives me nuts.
