Holiday Cruises on Azamara? (sorry - another question from an AZ newbie)

Two of the AZ cruises we are AZ Caribbean considering are over the Dec 2025 Holidays.  Both include Christmas, one includes NYE.  They are more expensive.

Should we expect more kids/teenagers/college aged passengers?  Is there anything special about holiday cruises beyond the ship being decorated for the holiday?

(sorry for all the rather piddling questions.  This is likely to be our last cruise and I'd like something more special than Celebrity or any mass market, huge ship.)

Don't expect kids. On last year's holiday cruise, there was one rather well-behaved child whose parent was a ship's officer. Azamara is a lovely step up from Celebrity, as long as you're not wanting a casino and big production shows. You'll quickly meet some great people who cruise on Azamara again and again. Not very many pretentious people either.

We were on a cruise in March that actually had half a dozen kids on board, something we've never seen in 14 years of traveling with Azamara. There are no facilities for kids, so its almost cruel taking them. Trust us, cruising with Azamara is something special, the ship, the ambiance, lord knows, the CREW, and the food is pretty good too. Have a wonderful time.

That would be a sight 😳

I'm guessing that anyone who brings kids on an Azamara cruise is smart enough to have researched the ship thoroughly. They know that there are no kids programs. So they've decided that their kids will be OK on a ship full of people who will look like their parents and grandparents.

Last year onboard Onward, there was a Father Christmas for any Children onboard, which were mainly the Captains family. Christmas Carols in the Den with minced pies and mulled wine also a sing along Christmas Concert in the Living Room. In all the dining venues there was a special menu on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve was White Night with a countdown clock projected on to ship.

We were onboard for the South Africa Pursuit cruise this year and there were enough children/teenagers for the entertainment crew to put stuff on specifically for them.  They weren’t obtrusive at all, just a bit of surprise!

The ship is decorated.  Father Xmas visits on Xmas Day.  We enjoyed the carols on Xmas Eve.  Presents left in your cabin.  Special menus.

It is the atmosphere and special dinners.  White night is usually on NYE.  Ive done one and have this Decembers booked also. Did't see any children on my last one two years ago and don't expect to see any on the upcoming one.  They would be bored silly. Also, if you wish to have a more laid back Christmas than you would at home, you can make it that way easily.
