Considering a B2B cruise and will need to switch cabins

We’ve booked a Cruise on Marina, Tenerife to Lisbon ( in an PH3) and now we’re considering the cruise before that, Rio to Tenerife, as we’ve never done a transatlantic and would like too. The PH3’s are wait listed so we are considering an A1 for the first leg, then transfer to the PH3 for the second leg.

My question is to those who may have done this switch, can you provide any tips or things to be aware of - the pros and cons.

Thanks for help.

Probably goes without saying, but If you can book an A1 that's as close as possible to the PH3, then that makes the move easier. Also, you could ask either your A1 housekeeper or your PH3 butler to assist. They're happy to help, and possibly able to provide some kind of luggage cart.

When we did a B2B, we had to disembark and go through immigration, but the process was quick and easy, and we were able to board again right away rather than having to wait with new passengers. But this was in Miami, so don't know what the process would be in Tenerife.

No real cons that I can think of. And the big pro in your case, is the opportunity to do the transAtlantic. (We've done many, and love them!) Go and enjoy.

This is very easily done. Just let them handle it. You pack your stuff in the bath and draws, leave you clothes on hangers. It will be a priority on turn around day.

If it's the TA this Apr - May 1 come join our Roll Call.

@m1k2s3

A couple of thoughts. If you are using a TA, put them to work on this B2B for you and if you want to stay in the same room, have them look at other options. As has been said, it is an easy move, just a bit of a nuisance but we have done it a number of times and the staff handles it well, No Big Deal. 😇👍
Since you are already in a PH3, you could have your TA look into going B2B in a PH2, if available on both segments. When you create that longer booking, O applies a discount so the total cost might not be that bad. We are doing the E to W Transatlantic on Marina in a few weeks but we have never done it from the America’s to Europe so can not share any experience. Rio is very enjoyable and scenic so make sure you allocate some days to see Christ the Redeemer and many other sites. Also factor in your flight costs to Rio, they could be 💰

Enjoy your upcoming adventure.

Do let your TA try to do a little magic and arrange the same cabin if possible.

Your cabin steward will move your possessions. The hanging clothes will be moved via a rod on wheels. Your packed luggage will be handled as well. If you have items in your safe you should move them yourselves. Have your steward and/or butler arrange to let you into the new cabin so that you can restock the safe when you vacate your first cabin.

It's easy enough to do and the crew is certainly used to handling everything to your satisfaction.

Gotta join in the fellow members who praise both Rio and transatlantic cruising.

We went from an A3 to a B3 on Riviera in 11/2023 and from an F to a C1 on Sirena 9/2024. Pretty simple. First, make sure your cabin steward and attendant are aware in advance. Do what they say. Pay attention to the information you'll receive from O. You'll see it on your door in your "mail". About the only small issue involves your key card, which you'll take care of at Reception/Front Desk. So, say something to them the day before.

we have done this a couple of times.  We had to pack the bathroom and drawers.  We left everything on the hangers.  If you are using magnets to hold items, remember to take them with you or I should say pack them in a bag.  Anything we left in bags they carried to the next cabin for us.  They will clean you new cabin asap and have you moved before 10 am.  They have to clean you old cabin for someone new, so hence they will move you as soon as possible.  Last cruise we were moved at 8:30 am.  We came back from breakfast to find them already moving us.

We asked to stay in the same suite, but the answer was no.  But all we did was pack what we wanted private in our suit case.  The Butler took care of the move, when we came back everything was inn place.  Oh, we also were allow to put things in the safe of the new suite before it was cleaned.

Thanks everyone. We’ve looked at it again, priced it out and figured, what the heck! Life’s too short so we’ve booked the Rio to Tenerife cruise and kept the Tenerife to Lisbon booking too.

Yes, I’ve joined to Roll Call - I actually joined it when we originally booked the Tenerife to Lisbon.
