Can we bring alcohol onboard?

Recommended Posts

Just booked with AOS for Jan 2008 southern Carribean. We have been on Princess recently and it was very easy to bring alcohol onboard from ports and take it to our cabins for our own convience. Our room steward even supplied us with extra ice and glasses to mix our drinks. We then made them in our cabin and took them to dinner, or the bar , or the deck. Saved us LOTS of $$ that week. Does RCCL allow this kind of thing??

I am very particular about my wine - I "smuggled" 4 bottles of nice wine in both my carry on and checked bags on the Explorer 2/18 - no problem. I also bought the wine package (7 bottles they were ok) and bought beer and other drinks on board. I feel that I did nothing wrong - I do the same at the Marriott Harbour Beach and it's very ....

I also had the cabin steward bring us glasses and ice - again, no problem mon! I also brought this wine in a glass to the shows on board as I do not like the chardonnay in the theater ... I felt fine with that...

I wouldnt make a huge deal out of it.

Bring some in your luggage, not your carry on. Be sensible with how much you bring. And dont be obnoxious about it. I have always had my own liquor in my own cabin and never had a problem. My stewart always left me extra glasses and ice, and even removed the soda cans and candy bars so i would have room for our own snacks and soda/ water/ liquor.

Ive always felt it was retarded how I was allowed to drink beer (before i turned 21) but not a mixed drink...kinda ruins the fantasy of a pina colada in paradise dont ya think? So ive always packed my own.

The biggest thing to remember above all, if you get caught and they confiscate it, dont freak out, you will get it back at the end of the cruise. Worse case senario- you have a bigger bar tab at the end of the cruise, but honestly, thats not gonna break you.

Not true anymore. With the new rules they "could" deny you boarding. Not sure if they have done it yet, or will do it in the future. We have packed our own liquor before but this new rule makes you think before considering doing it now.

Go a head and flame away..................................

The agreement in the contract you,we, sign,..I think it's pg 10 is NO ALCOHOL IS TO BE BROUGHT ON THE SHIP

whatever happened to honesty and making one's yes's mean yes and one's no's mean no.

if you agree to it..and you have to to sail...keep your word....if you can afford to sail buy your drinks or only drink the free one's

i pay for all my alcohol...it's also a good example of honesty to friends, spouse and kids:)

I dont really care to comment on this. I have in the past and it does not really matter what anyone thinks. What will happen will happen.

I was just wondering if sisocialworker had pictures posted from the Staten Island Ferry Cruise:D

*Can* you? Yes. You did it on Princess, and Princess doesn't allow it either.

if you want liquor you will have to smuggle it past the security guards,i had a pint strapped to my leg with a tube running up my leg under my shirt and down my arm with a stop valve there and i had a mini pump midway that runs on 2 aa batteries to pump it up to me,then id add to my drink in the dining room when no-one was looking:)))) :p

i've taken this "cruise" so often that i've never taken a pic...guess i've taken it for granted..living in nyc all my life

Born and raised in Brooklyn. Father lived on Staten Island so I spent a good portion of my growing up there also. When I bring my children to NY we will take a ferry ride. It will be their second cruise.

Oh my! Thanks for all your input. Just for the record we do buy PLENTY of drinks onboard. Along with spa treatments, casino play, and many other extra's. It is just very nice to have your "favorite" drink in your cabin for whenever you want. Upon boarding from Barbados with Princess we checked our purchased Malibu Rum with the "alcohol check-in" guy only for him to tell us take it with us and have a fun week! We found the same "check-in guy" at most ports and he simply waved and passed us through. I'm really looking forward to returning to St. Martin to get more Guavaberrry Rum! :D
