Your welcome.

The service and food are great (excellent). As far as the food ashore, local dishes, Dollar Bill (cheapskate:eek: ) will not pay for food ashore when the food is free on the ship. Maybe someone else can address the local dishes.

Easykruz,

Dollar Bill:)

Thanks for the response, I was asking about local dishes being served on the ship, like while in Peru did they have Peruvian dishes on the menu or the same regulat Princess choices?? Sorry if I worded this confusing:D

Are the staff not doing anything to stop the kids running amuck:D

I do not like to repeat what I heard because I PERSONALLY don't know if they happened, so no rumors started here. Hopefully someone who has first hand knowledge will report. I'm sorry to get everyone's interest up.

JOT Bill nice to hear from you again.

Easykruz,

Not trying to be a trouble maker Bill

Now that's a teaser:D

Wondering if the kids are running wild like the Hawaii cruise. Also wondering if they are remaining on the ship in SF to sail back to Acapulco???:eek:

Read the thread you posted, Oy hope I never have to experience that, my kids have cruised with us and know I would not tollerate such behavior onboard or at home or anywhere else:eek:

I have a question for those onboard: Can you apply your platinum/elite internet credit to wifi service?

Thanks again for keeping us all so entertained!

Not according to the current policy, but I expect if the front office keeps getting suggestions/complaints they may make some changes. I intend to write quite a long letter about the internet issues from this cruise.

They did relent on those of us who booked the b-2-b-2-b version rather than the 23 day ACA to SF and Platinum and Elite still have free internet thru SF - for all the good it has done.

That said, things are going pretty well even with the influx of all the kids. There have been some problems, more on other floors, I hear, than we've had up on Lido, but the atmosphere has certainly changed quite radically, and there's a lot more noise, which is to be expected, I guess.

There are rumors of all kinds, as Bill has mentioned, but I haven't personally seen anything really awful, although some of the kids active and running around pretty late into the evening (11 or 12 PM) and I've heard about them taking down people's celebration balloons, switching do not disturb cards over to the service requested side, and other such pranks.

I've seen a LOT of youth counselors, as well, though, and Princess seems to be keeping a close eye on everything, as far as I can tell. Two days at sea might be more of a challenge, and time will tell, but it isn't, at least so far as I know, a replay of the infamous Hawaii cruise.

Today's weather is very nice, Mazatlan is pretty quiet, being Easter Sunday, but there is a small flea market at the entry to the commercial port, and there were lots of excursions. We're taking it easy today, since I walked DH all over Puerto Vallarta yesterday, and promised him a day off so he could watch the Master's and get some rest and maybe get over his cold.

Tomorrow is Cabo, last port of the last leg for us. Much as I've enjoyed it, and all the really great folks we've met, I must admit it is getting time to get back my land legs!

Will try and brave our internet connections and help out my buddy Bill in keeping this Live From alive. Let us know if you have other questions!

In re: the food - no 'speciality of the region' - which is a shame, but understandable given the immensity of the task of keeping us all fed. However, there have been some South American wines added to the wine list, which is nice.

We have had a couple of local folkloric shows, but I think there could be a lot more done to enrich the content on these more exotic cruises - like better selections of tv programming from the History and Discovery and Travel Channels that would be geared to the places we are visiting. At least we had Evita on the Argentina segment!

I think more is done on the smaller ships to make more of a total experience, but you should make the suggestion to Princess that they incorporate a regional specialty dish into the menus. It is a good idea.

We have seen youth counselors (for the Fun Zone) onboard this cruise; however, we have NOT seen any Youth Security in their typical yellow t-shirts. The other evening, children were running up and down the Aloha Deck knocking on doors at 2:00am. In the Bernini Dining Room there was a meat ball rolling contest by several of the children and the adults (19 of them) were using their cell phones. Children are running from table to table in Bernini after 8:30pm. And if that's not enough for your evening dining pleasure, the latest fashion is very, very, very short shorts. When we asked some of the Head Waiters about the situation, the answer we have come to expect is----"Well what can we do"? Believe me---cell phone abuse is very widespread on the Golden Princess.

I am glad that the internet is up again and have enjoyed all the reports in the last 23 days thanks for shareing with us. We will be boarding the ship on April 22 and hope we don't have a lot of kids on that cruise. kIDS should be back in school by then. There are always a lot of kids during spring break. I was happy to hear that dream girls was now playing I have been wanting to see that picture and missed it when it was out before. I hope that it is on a day that I have time to see it. Thanks again for your great information. I hope that someone on the cruise of April 12 will post some also.

Oh Boy. Cell phones in the dinning room is not a good thing. I thought they were going to install jammers in the dinning rooms and other locations on the ship so that cell phones could only be used on the top deck and in your stateroom. I hope there are a lot of complaints. In writing would be more effective.

I actually only heard, so far, one cell phone ring in the horizon court. When we were in the various ports I heard a number of people outside on the deck talking on their cell phones.

Oh, this is JUST great -- when I want to relax by the pool in a nice lounge

chair and get to hear a one-sided conversation.

For those who are curious, we're going out on April 12th and one in our

roll call called Princess, who advises there will be a total of 183

kids on board; 34 between the ages of 13-17, 123 between the ages

of 3 - 12 and 26 between the ages of 6 months and two years.

I think it's safe to assume the 400 from Acapulco will be getting off the

ship. I don't think I could take it if 19 people were on their cell phones

in the dining rooms.

Well, now I know to pack earplugs:D

Good Morning Everyone,

We will be arriving this morning in Cabo San Lucas at about 8:00am. The weather according to the Princess Patter is 25C/77F with clear skies and a 5% chance of showers with 56% humidity. We should have a moderate breeze with a westerly wind of 18mph. We are due to leave Cabo San Lucas at 5:00pm.

Last night it was quiet on our deck (Baja), although this morning there are door signs (do not disturb) upside down and room service trays in the hallways with trash. Something I didn't see before Acapulco. If that's our only problem we have I think everyone can handle it.

This morning when I got up I saw for the first time on any cruise, people coming out of the casino. Not sure when the casino closes. I guess there are a number of people on the ship that like to watch the sun come up in the morning. :D

Enjoy your coffee, tea or whatever you drink this morning, adios.

Easykruz,

Bill:)

If the kids are well disciplined, I don't think you will have any problem. As far as the adults, that's another story (cell phones).

I hope you enjoy your cruise.

I guess with all the cell phones cruising will not be the break from reality we have enjoyed - with DH in his own business it is one of the things we enjoyed - the opportunity to 'get away from it all'

Those kids need a good lesson on manners:eek:

We have not had a problem with undisciplined kids on any cruise yet thank goodness but the adults are another story and I haven't experienced the cell phones yet:eek:

Hey, if people would post only what they actually "saw" and "heard" and not rumors or what they thought someone else saw and heard, life would be a lot easier around here.. not that second-hand info posts are intentionally inaccurate but each cruise has it's own "life" i.e. what is a problem on one sailing may/may not be a problem on another one and some posts with good info get lost in speculation and trepidation about what "might" have happened or what "might" happen on a future sailing esp. where kids, conduct etc. is the topic...

::gee... I didn't realize I was standing on a soap box::::confused: :rolleyes:

okay, I'm off...:)

I sailed Crystal cruise lines in January and this is what they did. We could use our cell phones in our cabin or on deck (I found an isolated aft deck area when I used mine, otherwise, I was in my cabin). Cell phones were blocked from use in the show lounges, dining venues and several other places on the ship.

IMO - this is the proper way to deal with cell phones.

Can anyone on board comment about the code Red alert that's currently in affect aboard your ship? Are lots of people sick or is it all hush hush?

Pia

Here's part of an email I got from a friend of mine on the Golden:

"Lots of folks are sick on this cruise including my husband. Hope your cruise on the Golden is better than ours turned out. I'll let you know more once were home."
